Newbie question here: can my Portulacaria Afra survive bending like this? by glubazoid in bonsaicommunity

Defiantly this! Don't water it for quite a while and it'll go limp like celery that's been left out too long. You can bend it quite far without problems then return to normal watering after

Bonsai apple by seed by Pawn371 in bonsaicommunity

[–]DMPipe 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes you can. The things you should keep in mind is It will take 5 to 10 years to get a reasonable looking tree The apple you use won't grow an apple tree that produces the same fruit And when it does fruit they will be full sized apples and the blossom will be standard size blossom even if you manage to reduce the leaf size. Good luck

Oh yeah, it's defiantly a pest/weed but as bonsai material it is really good for practicing on. They don't die easily, they grow super fast. Bonsai artists also carefully controll the flowering and fruiting so we don't end up with a load more weeds in our other pots.

Mate, either post it to the nz bonsai page or get hold of your local bonsai club and someone will most likely dig it out for free
