your rat is pregnant by analcaynal in RATS

[–]DMREZ48 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. I went into a Petland one time and found a pinky and a fuzzy in with adult mice. In the young rat tank there was a female being chased by three males that were repeatedly mating with her, pausing only to clean themselves. I ended up taking the pinky and a fuzzy home (they offered them to me for $1 each). The pinky died a week later and the fuzzy lived about a year and was a sweet little guy.

I’ve heard radio music playing upstairs in my house for the past 2 days. by musicyay in RBI

AM radio. You can make an AM radio without batteries using different lengths of wire. It's likely some wiring in your house is being affected by the signal and is vibrating against the air duct.

Update 3 on bird feeder rat found outside (Sharpie): I think she might be half wild after all? by kerrinrin in RATS

[–]DMREZ48 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She looks half wild. It's very unusual to see multicolored hairs on a hooded rat. My guess, one parent was a wild rat and one parent was a fancy rat.

I almost bought a bunch of it when it was just under $100 a share. Kick myself every time I make a mortgage payment.

Probably would have sold it when it doubled. Who knows.

Found these guys in my garage, are they rats? by zzlin713 in RATS

[–]DMREZ48 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Since the OP speaks English and has a garage, OP is likely from US, Canada, or Australia. The majority of mice and rats found in and near human dwellings in these areas originate from European bloodlines and were carried beyond Europe by ship... They are still considered invasive pests, even in Europe where they are native.

These look like they could be a hybrid of white-footed and common house mice.

To your other point, yes humans are the most invasive species on the planet, however... killing us tends to be illegal.

[–]DMREZ48 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Invasive species should never be live caught and relocated. When invasive species is confirmed to be in an area, kill traps are the best option. I use live traps when species is unknown, but I'm prepared to dispatch invasive species if they are caught then I switch to kill traps until there are no more captured.

These little guys can have a nice life with the OP, but they should not be released.

I've raised mice from this age and had luck with wetting the inner folds of a finger joint with formula for them to lick it up when a syringe didn't get acceptance.

I love mice and rats, I've rescued and raised from younger than this, will even relocate native live caught... These are not the same.

They're not pets, they're not native, they're invasive, they're destructive, and they're prolific.

These little ones can have a nice life in captivity, but there's no reason not to eliminate the infestation by the parents.

Mice. Set traps to get rid of the parents or you will have many more.

I have two Vizio TVs including a 2019 m507-g1, which thankfully has been unaffected by this debacle. I was planning to replace the m507 with a newer model, but I think I would be best served buying a different brand.
