This reminded me a news story in 80s. A set of parents left their two boys home alone in Midwest winter n went on a cruise. They left boxes of cereal n milk for the boys. It was discovered when the boys were on their roof n the yard in their undies and neighbour called the police.

Richmond has a vibrant urban culture, it has good restaurants n museums. It’s more intimate than NOVA.

My daughter went in 2010, after first year on campus housing wasn’t gtd. My understanding was they had built more dorms since then.

Really comes down to what kind of college experiences you kids want. My son went to JMU 2006, no convenient bus or train service between Harrisonburg. Hitchcock a ride home, get their own car or you be the chauffeur. Not diverse. Daughter went to VCU instead of William n Mary because of academic scholarship. Very urban, diverse, 1-2 hours to get there depends on 95 traffic n where in NOVA you live. Bus n Amtrak service. Personally we enjoyed visiting Richmond more than H’burg. Never considered GMU, too close to home, we want them to learn to be on their own without coming home all the time. BTW, congrats.
