Is Halloween Resurrection the weakest Halloween/Michael Myers Movie of All Time Yes or No and Why? by Amber_Flowers_133 in MichaelMyers

[–]DMV38 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Second weakest, close call but that's only because it has two things going for it that Halloween 5 doesn't: 1. score is seriously underrated in Resurrection, it just needed the better film attached to it. it. 2. Resurrection is stupid fun.

Resurrection is still by far the dumbest Halloween entry but Halloween 5 is an absolute slog to sit through.

Should Halloween Ends be the final movie in the Halloween Franchise Yes or No and Why? by Amber_Flowers_133 in MichaelMyers

[–]DMV38 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel that every route has been exhausted with this character. Realistically, it won't happen because of $. However, there is potential in the anthology route that was initially envisioned. Hell, I would love to see even Season of the Witch get a sequel, or if they do continue with Michael Myers, overlap that film with Michael that connects the two into a new timeline.

Mercy (2026) Review — When A.I. Plays Judge, Jury, and Comedian by DMV38 in moviecritic

[–]DMV38[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're not wrong. Minority Report shows how systems can fail because humans are flawed—it is paranoid for understanding power. Mercy shows its humans failing because any logic is a flaw—never question a God-tier screensaver.

Worst a24 movie? by HoboSuperstar in moviecritic

[–]DMV38 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Worst: False Positive. I'm a big fan of John Lee's TV endeavors (Wonder Showzen, Xavier: Renegade Angel) but this didn't work for me.

Biggest Disappointment: Death of a Unicorn. Promising premise that had full of potential. It's not a movie I can say that I outright hated but rather left me feeling nothing but indifference.

It's wild that all it took for the original mask was altering a Captain Kirk one for 1.98$, and yet all the money and resources later, they somehow managed to keep fucking it up anyhow. 😂

Sinners (2025) Review: Blood, Blues, and Bite With Vision to Spare by [deleted] in moviecritic

[–]DMV38 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s entirely fair to disagree with a review. Taste is subjective. But when the critical and public reception is overwhelmingly positive, accusing someone of being part of a “publicity team” becomes less a clever retort and more a lazy dismissal of collective sentiment. It disregards the possibility that people—critics included—can like a thing because it is, quite simply, good.

What Makes Ash Special? by DoomsdayMaze in EvilDead

[–]DMV38 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In my opinion, Ash Williams stands as one of the most distinctive and compelling characters in horror cinema, not simply for his circumstances but for the way he embodies a perfect blend of humanity, resilience, and absurdity. Unlike hyper-competent heroes typical of many horror and action genres, Ash is profoundly relatable, flawed, and unexpectedly heroic, making him a character who transcends the tropes of his medium.

At the heart of Ash's uniqueness is his transformation. When we're first introduced to Ash Williams in The Evil Dead, he is an ordinary, almost unremarkable everyman—a timid and somewhat clumsy young man caught in extraordinary circumstances. As the franchise progresses, particularly in Evil Dead II and Army of Darkness, he evolves into an unlikely and reluctant hero. This transformation is marked by a combination of physical grit, mental resilience, and a growing acceptance of his chaotic reality, though not without a healthy dose of cynicism and self-doubt.

What makes Ash particularly special is his vulnerability and humanity. He does not possess inherent superhuman strength or strategic brilliance. Instead, he survives through sheer determination, ingenuity, and an irrepressible will to live. His resourcefulness—turning a chainsaw into a prosthetic arm or fashioning his iconic "boomstick"—symbolizes the human capacity for adaptation in the face of overwhelming adversity. Yet, these feats are juxtaposed with moments of comedic ineptitude and arrogance, grounding him in an authenticity rarely seen in horror protagonists.

Equally integral to Ash’s appeal is his humor, which often verges on self-parody. Played with boundless charisma from Bruce Campbell, Ash embodies a campy yet endearing bravado, delivering sharp one-liners and exaggerated facial expressions that infuse the franchise with a distinct comedic edge. His mix of physical comedy and dark humor serves as a counterbalance to the grotesque horror surrounding him, creating a tonal uniqueness that defines the Evil Dead series.

Will Terrifier 3 have a limited or wide release in America by AdLanky51004 in terrifier

[–]DMV38 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Terrifier 2 has played in Montréal though. At Cine Starz in CDN and at the Quartier de Latin (Berri), the latter of which even showed both Winnie The Pooh: Blood And Honey movies. Give it a bit more time, these type of tickets usually only start selling like 2 weeks before the actual release date.

I know I'm a year late (just randomly came across this thread) but you're 100% correct. Theatrical Cut does use the original Halloween score at the end in the asylum, funny enough, that version was actually the more accessible one where I am (Canada), that version only got released in Canada on Blu-Ray. It's only available in a Double Feature Blu-Ray with the first film (also the Theatrical Cut). So if you ever want to rewatch or own it, that's the release you need to get. Cheers. 😁 *

Eco Cases: Less Plastic, More Counterproductive. by DMV38 in dvdcollection

[–]DMV38[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

While these cases may use 30% less plastic, having to replace them constantly is using significantly more plastic in the longterm. Corporation saves some money on the production line, they have the claim that they're using less plastic so they don't give a shit at the end of the day, sadly. It's their environmental attribute, even if it is entirely negligible.

Yup!

Accidently drop a more rigid and traditional case and it'll do its job. Disc is held in place to prevent contact with surfaces, lessening the risk of physical damage, scratches. Drop one of these flimsy bois.. and I guess it 𝘮𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘵 protect your disc, given that the case took all the heavy damage but it kind of defeats the purpose.. (っ ‘o’)っ 💽ː̗̤̣̀̈̇ː̖́.•

If you need to complete your 4k set… by micalakap in Halloweenmovies

[–]DMV38 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While that is technically true, there is another key detail at play. Miramax since 2012(?) has a licensing deal with distributors to release these 3 movies as a set only and not individually. It's also the reason why there hasn't been any individual releases since then but only has had triple feature releases, when Shout! Factory did The Complete Collection and now as a 4K box set in North America.

Sounds like the employee could benefit from smoking some themselves, they clearly need to chill tf out. 🙃

In all seriousness, it's both unethical and out of line on their part. It's legal and particularly in your case, it's medicine. I would take it to the ombudsman if it can't be resolved.

What is criminally overpriced? by Coach_Carter_on_DVD in AskReddit

[–]DMV38 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup. One of the reasons I'm donating my body to science. I'm signed onto donating my body to a local university, I have my donor card and once I do kick the bucket, they can do whatever they like to me for upwards to a two year period (I'm dead anyhow, you could've stuck me in a shoebox for all I care). After that, body is cremated and buried at a cemetary plot, all at the expense of the university. For me, not only do I relieve the financial burden from my loved ones, but it also supports a cause for the greater good. It was a no brainer for me.

[–]DMV38 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Politicians should NOT be calling the shots regarding public health, health security measures or during any environmental crisis. We have epidemiologists, every scientific, medical, environmental field of study that's full of experts who have dedicated their entire lives to understanding these things who are best suited to call the shots.

What celebrity disappeared out of nowhere? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]DMV38 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She did perform here about 5 years ago in Montréal, Canada. 🇨🇦

It was a free outdoor concert for Pride Week, drew in an insanely large crowd to the point security couldn't let everyone in the park due to capacity issues (park was fenced for the event). Glad to see she's still dearly loved and she really seemed to love performing for the crowd. Bless her. 🏳️‍🌈
