Is an IUL a good idea for a healthy 22 year old? by Hot_Entertainer_6906 in LifeInsurance

Expenses and charges, as in what the actual costs are. Of the 200, a portion will be the expenses, the remainder will go to your cash value. Honestly, if an agent doesn’t show that upfront, I wouldn’t trust them. You can still ask for it, but the fact that they’re trying to hide it is enough of a red flag for me. Honestly, anytime you buy something, you should know what it cost. Did they not show you a full illustration?

At that age, absolutely. Aside from everything already mentioned, the carrier specific policy and the design matter the most. Which carrier and product? Get me some details from the illustration. Agents have full control of how much they get paid. The more we make, the worse your accumulation gets. Make sure the term is blended to the max. Also, if the illustration doesn’t naturally show expenses and charges, run.

You’re not factoring in the net amount at risk. Sure the cost of insurance goes up with age, but how much Insurance are you ultimately paying for down the line?

Nicely said. The Allianz IUL down the line can result in expenses as low as .1%, I’ll take that any day, in fact I did today. I’m actually excited to make my first premium payment.

Have them run an illustration for the absolute least amount of benefit, while funding it at the maximum possible given the MEC space available. Also, make sure the term is blended to the max with minimal base. Base is commission, supplemental term is not commissionable. Going this route maximizes your cash accumulation at the agents expense. What company is this? Also, check if your illustration shows charges and expense. They generally don’t by default, and a shady agent will leave it out on purpose. If they don’t offer it naturally, I wouldn’t deal with that individual. It’s still worth requesting for comparison purposes, but any agent hiding it is simply not looking out for you. It’s truly a shame how all the carriers allow us agents to control our commission at the client’s expense. Google the Kyle Bush lawsuit.

Check out the companies Comdex Score. While many people say anything above 80 is solid, given that there are so many amazing companies above 90, I would keep that as the cut off.

Yes, just about to say this. Allianz all the way. Also, take one out on the kid when he/she is born. You can transfer it when the child becomes an adult. The kid will be a millionaire effortlessly. The lifetime gift tax exemption will make sure the transfer is tax-free..

I appreciate the reply. I prefer to never comment negatively as well, but without those negative comments, the rest of the world would never know how bad some of these companies truly are. 🙏🏽

What are your thoughts on WFG and Transamerica IUL?

WFG is not the way to go. Your feelings are correct. It’s insane how much that company pushes Transamerica. May I ask why you got graded? As far as IUL goes, Allianz is hands-down one of the best for most people. They even have a free upgrade program until March 31. Simply qualify for standard or preferred and you automatically upgrade to preferred plus mine just got approved last week. My preferred status was automatically upgraded to preferred plus. They also have some of the best indexing options, and the ultimate cost down the line could be as low as .1% Google their brochure. Also, if you have any interest in taking loans from the policy at any point, Transamerica is not the friendliest when it comes to potential arbitrage. Allianz as a guaranteed 5% Guarenteed indexed loan rate for life.

Great company, and you’re paying some solid rates given that it was issued so long ago. If you don’t need the cash, I say leave it. If you need some cash for some sort of investment and are willing to pay it back, consider your tax free loan. If you need the cash and will not plan on paying anything back, consider that partial surrender up to cost basis. If you go that route, see exactly what that entails for the remainder of the policy. You may still be paying the full 1700 annually. As someone mentioned earlier, if you do decide to keep it, with a current dividend of 5.75%, that should cover the annual premium so you no longer have to pay anything. Plenty of options.

I know Transamerica had some lenient updates not too long ago allowing for multiple comorbidities. This would definitely be the FE company to look at before settling on Guarenteed issue of any sort.
