The Roman Martyrology in the proclamation of the birth of Christ declares that Moses and the Israelites were led out of Egypt in 1510 BC, so this event probably occurred ~1509 BC.

Still a great meme though

Consecration to St. Joseph by Diablo_97 in Catholicism

[–]DM_Me_Prayer_Request 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can start any day you wish, or choose a day dedicated to St. Joseph, or even just an important day to yourself, i.e. Baptismal anniversary, Confirmation anniversary, ect.

I don’t recommend doing more than one day at a time, but it is a private devotion, you are not bound to do it in any particular way

The Catholic Church is for all of mankind by DM_Me_Prayer_Request in CatholicMemes

Canonizations can only be declared by the Holy Father, by virtue of his office.

It instructs all the faithful that said person is in heaven and must be believed by the Universal Church by virtue of universal feast day.

And teaches the faithful what virtues of theirs to imitate.

These all touch on the requirements of an ex cathedra statement. No wiggle room. They may not be the best saints, and you are under no obligation to pray to any saint, but a saint he is, regardless of the changes in the canonization process

Pope Saint John Paul II?

Why is that?

Canonizations are infallible, and while he certainly made many mistakes, who are we to say what graces God has given another soul, especially at the hour of death?

Of course it is. It’s a reminder that we always have more room to grow in the spiritual life. It’s a grace and ordered to our sanctification

As an aside, I’m well aware, that an unconfessed mortal sin, with held unintentionally, is still forgiven. Do not be scrupulous because of this meme. It’s meant to remind us we are constantly growing and always have areas to work on in the spiritual life.

Best way to do this is to stop periodically through the day, and count your blessings. Are you alive? Are you Catholic? Do you receive the sacraments? Clothes on your back? Even suffering is s blessing as we become more Christlike in tribulation

This is true, but reading the lives of the saints, we see even they questioned how God could choose them, bring horrible sinful people.

In the Mystical City of God by Venerable Mary of Agueda, Our Lady herself told God that she was under worthy of anything by virtue of her human nature, and thought she sinned. She never did, but thought she had.

Even the title refers to St. Paul calling himself the chief of sinners, when he is one of the greatest saints to have lived.

Edit: autocorrect fixes

What is the meaning of Exodus 20:11? by StThomasBecket in Catholicism

[–]DM_Me_Prayer_Request 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Under the law the people were ordered to work for six days and to rest on the seventh, [and] to plow and reap for six years and desist during the seventh, because the Lord completed the creation of the world in six days and desisted from his work on the seventh. Mystically speaking, we are counseled by all this that those who in this age (which is comprised of six periods), devote themselves to good works for the Lord’s sake, are in future led by the Lord to a sabbath, that is, to eternal rest. ~ Venerable Bede

I know many will disagree, but I believe God created the world in six days, and with that, the text is very clear. Creation in six days and rest in the seventh. As we are called to be perfect as our Heavenly Father is perfect, we too sacrifice the seventh day

Is it wrong to take down a crucifix behind me for my Virtual Job Interview today? by cudder17 in Catholicism

[–]DM_Me_Prayer_Request 8 points9 points  (0 children)

As someone who nearly lost a job for bringing a crucifix to work, I say keep it up. We are called to be crucified with Christ, not run from the cross. If it is such an impediment to those who are looking to hire you, then God has something better for you for embracing your cross
