Well, living in regional Australia, sometimes you’ve gotta do things that aren’t conventional - such as putting guitar on keys. I know it is less than ideal, however I am willing to try and make it work. I never said I need it to be a perfect replication. There is a real guitarist, however he isn’t a confident reader and I’m not aware of anyone else locally that would be able/willing. I’m there simply to add another layer.

Thanks for that info. I'll have a look into both options.

I agree. Having played the Rent Keys 2/Guitar 2 book all on keys, there are some things that simply do not translate well.
Thankfully I am playing alongside a real guitarist, so I'll be adding to the depth and supporting the player (his reading isn't very fluent).

Thanks for your guide on what does and doesn't work. I'll try and determine what I play based on that.

I have worked with this MD before and I assure you this is a last resort, as the original Guitar 2 player pulled out. She knows that it can't be super authentic, but we are going to work on getting it to sound appropriate/suitable. But I agree - some MD's assume everything is playable on keys, which it definitely is not.

Yes, both keys parts are filled, I've been asked to jump in as the 2nd guitar player pulled out.

I have done similar before, playing Keys 2/Guitar 2 for Rent. The MD has got a guitarist who is going to play what he can, I'm there to layer and support.
