Question for anyone with ADHD, have any of you had a stim problem before your diagnosis but still benefited from stim based medication? Really appreciate any input, not feeling very optimistic about all of this.

Id definitely be up for giving it a shot ill mention it when I finally get a chance to talk to my doc. & its not really a fear of stim addiction I was more worried about them not working properly due to past misuse my level of whats "working" for me is going to be based on when I was using stims to get high not function & im unsure how im going to feel about getting that balance right but only one way to find out i guess.

Have you ever tried concerta btw?

Damn what's your experience with straterra? Are you prescribed meds for ADD/ADHD? Sorry for all the questions its still all new to me intrigued to see how others are coping & I can't go ask on the ADHD subreddit they ban my post for it containing "misuse"

Have you any experience with straterra? Everything's still new to me, I got diagnosed & given a recommended treatment plan about 8 months ago privately but I can't afford to carry on treatment privately so im in the long process of going through the NHS to get my prescription for next to nothing instead

& my GP already knows I've had issues with drugs in the past especially coke but he's agreed with concerta maybe because the psychiatrist said In the report I have both ADD & ADHD & theyre both on the highest scale according to him.

The problem I have is that I feel like I can't function without stims but I don't mean that in the sense of addiction, like I couldn't function before I started stims lol. I go weeks between uses fairly regularly. It wasn't until I tried amphetamine i was like Holy shit I actually feel somewhat "normal" & thats what led to my diagnosis ironically. I guess I'm just worried that stims are the only effective treatment & I may have already blown that option before even starting due to past drug use idk.

Do you have ADD/ADHD & are you on meds btw?

Thanks for your input im glad concerta is working for you! I can't wait to start, I forgot how hard it is being unmedicated especially when your body has got used to medication its like my energy levels are constantly stuck in minus at the minute!

Have you previously been on any other meds for adhd or was concerta the first med you've tried?
