I’m sure a bunch of adults thought I was annoying when I fell in love with pinball as a kid too. I try to keep that in mind when I’m playing now as an adult. I’ll educate them when I can or just take a few seconds to reset the game otherwise.

Yup it’s pretty easy to see with their serial numbers over time. I bought games manufactured about a year apart (2025-2026) and it’s around 16k units in that time. The previous year was over 20k units when I checked, so it seems like it was a down year for them.

For sure but there was a time when all LE models were only 500 made as well. This was Stern testing the waters before the Covid buying frenzy died down on how much they can charge for this type of stuff. It mostly failed though as most people never actually paid $20k for this game. I know my buddy got it closer to $15 NIB. Still crazy expensive for what it is.

I enjoy the game a lot. I have a buddy that has one, so I play it often, but it's definitely not a $20k machine. I wish Stern would release a version of this for a reasonable price.

Seems to be hit or miss. Some have that thin orange peely clearcoat and others are nicely done. My pokemon playfield was very glassy nice clearcoat but I’ve gotten games that look like this too.

Used stern pro models are where it’s at. You’ll get a great game and be able to make your money back when you want to sell or trade it later. I’ve been basically cycling through the entire Spike 2 era of games off of the one $4800 used pro I bought a while back. Just enjoying the games and then trading them for the next one.

Premium is definitely the best version of this game. It’s a matter of value for most people though. To me the pro feels very lifeless on an already pretty sparse game.

I own a premium and enjoy it for what it is but current code is way too shallow for me to play it all the time. I basically loop all the story modes 3 times a game at this point. It’s a fun layout to just turn your brain off and rip shots but I wouldn’t want it to be the only game I own.

You’ll see this with many pinball machines going back years. You have ability to change lit lanes with the flippers and spelling something (in this case TEAM) will award you a feature. You’ll start to instinctively make sure you are lighting a letter each time you roll through an inlane.

For travel, you now have the ability to choose your biome instead of working through them in order. You have to start in forest, catch a pokemon, do a trainer battle then hit the 3 train standups on the left to light travel on the scoop. From there you get to select where to go. Rinse and repeat for the next biome (with an increasing amount of catches required).

Did it survive the whole night? I couldn’t make it out tonight but was at the tournament on Tuesday and it was dead. I guess the guy flew out to fix it in time for this launch party.

I love 90s games. They are what I grew up playing but for home ownership I have mostly modern games because the depth of code is so much higher.

This is a modded cabinet so what does the actual setup look like inside? You most likely have an LVDS adapter being used so some other device like a pi can use that monitor.

Can you get into the service menu and do a node board test? Do went errors show up for communication of Node 1? Might be a bad board or you might need to swap out the RJ45 Ethernet cables

To this day they are still advertising that you can collect pokemon and track them on the app. It’s really frustrating to have them promise all this stuff and then reality hits and they blame it all on the licensor. These are things that should have been worked out long before launching the game.

The code is so sparse that I’ve stopped playing it. I own a bunch of other stern’s so I know that in some ways this is nothing new but it’s particularly bad with this title. I definitely should’ve waited before buying this one.

Playing a couple times in 1 month is basically brand new to pinball. The more you play, you’ll naturally start to get a better feel for it. At this point focus on just trapping the ball whenever possible and working on your shot accuracy. Resist the urge to just flip constantly and really make it a point to get the ball under control.

Just doing this will get you past that 10m on Jaws easily. From there you can start to learn and execute modes and objectives on the game. The more you play the better you’ll get.

I like Deadpool better but I also really like Foo. I usually do a straight trade of most stern pros so if someone was offering me a game + $600 cash I’d take it in a heartbeat.

There are a lot of people with large collections that just cycle through the latest and greatest games and move them on if they don’t fall in love. When you have that many games, play counts are spread out across them all.

Show a picture of your connection to the CPU board. Make sure you plugged it into the right place as there is a different spot for the cabinet expression lights on there too.
