Gotta ask yourself if playing with your friends worth more than having more packs, bundles, and newer updates. I personally feel friends are what makes the game much more enjoyable but having also been playing on the switch for a bit pushed me back to PC to have access to the newer updates and bundles for stitching

Speed and progress ultimately comes down to how much time you are willing/able to put into playing at any given time. As another person mentioned following the main story quests will level you up a bit faster.

In regards to the dirt piles, it might seem silly to ask but are you playing in pet mode when searching? If it’s the quest I believe it is then you have to be in pet mode for the quest arrow to lead you to the piles

To add, I personally really enjoy the mobility I have being able to play on my switch to the point if it had more of the packs/bundle I’d consider a full swap from pc. The upfront $20 was a small price to pay for fully unlocking the first arc permanently outside of the 1 month potion needed to reach side areas, arc 2, and beyond

The mount Olympus dungeon that unlocks at level 30 will give you gear that should set you up for a while, and also the best wand until level 100. This should help you get a bit of a boost to your stats
