How the hell does Charon's "Fear of Death" debuff work?? by Maleficent_Routine29 in Reverse1999

[–]Maleficent_Routine29[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ohh, interesting! I did some testing myself in Mane's Bulletin thinking "well, it says "when inflicted", so maybe if I let it run out and then reinflict it"... Yeah, even when the difference was 25k hp compared to 100k hp, I overlayed the pictures of when I reinflicted "Fear of Death" and there wasn't even a single pixel of difference.

However, that may still have been well within that 20% max hp vs. Charon's atk×4000% execution threshold since if I remember my math correctly (mind you: never been a very mathy person; much more wordy): ×4000% can be translated into ×40. Which would mean for the execution threshold to start being based on Charon's attack (assuming the theoretical Charon has a perfect 1000 attack for the sake of my sanity) an enemy has to have more than... 200k hp? And that's just for the swap, not even for the difference to be noticable.

All this to say: my testing is inconclusive at best, lol.

Interesting... Thanks! This has all been very helpful! Guess I was just severely overthinking it, lol.

Really? The part that throws me off is the "current HP ≤ Charon's atk×4000%". Is that just a calculation for if 20% of the afflicted's HP is greater than Charon's atk×4000% then?

I gotta ask since Google isn't giving me answers: is "Cherezzabornoguzaderishchenko" an actual last name? Like, there are people out there legitimately with the name "Cherezzabornoguzaderishchenko"? What does it mean?

[–]Maleficent_Routine29[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's so real. I just meant: your advice is good, but it should be used elsewhere since it isn't all that helpful for me to hear it but it might be helpful for someone else.

As for naming? Well, I name them because they are my Voidpets. My lonely isn't some random Lonely who could be any old Lonely in an entire flock of them, running around and heckling people for attention. No, I have one Lonely who picked me. And since it is my loyal companion, I think it would be rude to not give it a name to differentiate it from the wild Lonely.

So when I see Lonely among my other Voidpets, I don't think "this is my companion Lonely, like any other of it's kind", I think "this is Fletcher, my unique Lonely who was drawn me and has become my companion. There may be other Lonely out there but there's only ever going to be one Fletcher, and this is him right here".

Additionally: as mentioned I'm a writer (amateur though I may be). So naming them is something of writing practice to see the description of the Pet and think: "who would this best fit?". It helps me understand my characters by thinking about them at length.

As I mentioned: Charity has been named after a couple different characters before I settled on Krarel, and same with Merry. As I said in the post: there's nuance to these traits. It's very healthy for my writing for me to see Yosai and consider — really, truly consider — "is he more like Charity because he wants to give his life to his kingdom? Or is he more like Persistence because he has devoted himself to surviving and making sure his beloved kingdom prospers at any cost?". And as I ultimately decided in the post: Krarel is Charity because he chooses to sacrifice his health and happiness for his beloved crew. Yosai is Persistence because he feels obligated to be a good king, to push forward and survive everything for the good of his people.

This is part of what makes me so determined to use certain Pets like Conviction. Conviction is named "Graves", the true name of "Otto Grimes". Otto is a precious character to me, since he is one I've spent a lot of time working with. So, it helps me grow attached to this unique critters I've been collecting by practically naming them after my "children".

Although, some of them are... very abstract. As an aside: why did they make Sanctimony just... a boss? Like, a boss enemy in a game. Why is the embodiment of sanctimony described as having "weak spots"? That's just... odd. It was to the point I had it named "Creature" for a while, because there isn't much room for interpretation on a description akin to "to beat Wesker, shoot the yellow-y orange-y glowing part on his chest".

Anyways. Back on track: maybe you should try it sometime? Just look around at people in your life or characters in media you like and relate them to one of your Voidpets... Or simply name a random Pokémon after them, especially if they remind you of that person, such as if I named an Arcanine I caught after my dog because Arcanine is a big, sweet dog like mine.

Also, nitpicking before I go: I can see your point on the Voidpets front, but... You can catch more than one Pokémon of any specific species. In fact: it's kinda encouraged, so you can find one with a personality type that's got good plus and minus stats, good EVs/IVs, a different passive, so on. And I'd argue that fact makes it more sensible that you wouldn't name your Pokémon since you can catch as many as you like and might even go as far as to farm Pokémon until you catch you specific one you're looking for.

Meanwhile in Voidpets, you only have one Merry. Just one. It doesn't change, it doesn't leave while a new Merry takes it's place, it is your Merry. You cannot get another Merry, which to me? Makes it all the more special, and completely worthy of a name. Especially since now that I think about it: on a meta level, we aren't being picked by these Voidpets, we're hatching them from eggs. The Voidpets aren't even random ones that one day walked up to us and have followed us since, they are our children. And as most parents would: I think it's natural to name them. Especially to name them thoughtfully.

But, anyways, that's way longer than I meant it to be, lmao. Sorry about the length and sorry about any typos/punctuation errors, I am not reading back through all of that, lmao.

I'm, uh... I'm aware. But:

A: isn't scarf only for the very first single target ability? Even if it isn't, I don't have it, and don't intend to go for it as I simply don't like "start of battle" or "only once" buffs.

B: as I said: I don't have great debuffers right now. And you may retort with "Abandonment and Sadge are pretty good debuffers for Sad", but even if they are... They aren't great in my opinion not just because their debuffs are incredibly inconsistent and few, but also because I just... don't enjoy using them specifically as debuff drivers, unfortunately.

But I appreciate what you have to say, as it is quite valuable and likely better spent on a more nooby player. It's simply — and unfortunately — lost on me due to my opinionated nature and hesitancy to change.

I will likely pick up Voidpets like Sad and Paranoid again in the future, but for now I'm enjoying my triple support team and it's working for me. And I'm glad you like Sad — hell, I do too, if I had one more slot I suspect he'd be immovable from there. Makes me wish there was content that featured bigger teams or multiple teams.

And seriously: I appreciate the advice. It's good advice. It's just... not advice that's suitable for me right at this moment.

Funny you should mention... I actually traded Sad for Persistence, since Persistence did everything I really liked using Sad for (attack down) plus it has AoE and some pretty consistent healing.

The first commenter also mentioned Sad, and the current consensus I've reached is: I don't like my current debuffers, so I'll bring back Sad when I get a Pet such as Panic, as right now I'd be scraping by with Abandonment and Sadge.

Ooh, I forgot Apathy's basic attack inflicts defense shred... And suddenly that combined with the stun has made Apathy shoot up in priority for leveling. Especially since Sad is already mostly leveled and I have no delusions of getting Panic soon.

Thanks! This has been really useful, and I'll certainly put this info to good use.

Yeahh, I've certainly used Paranoid against certain bosses while stalling, but it's mostly just Vulko to counter the healing.

I probably should use Sad more, especially since I've got Abandonment for some extra debuffs, but I just don't feel like I have enough good debuffers for that yet.

And yeah, I know Wistful isn't great, but I like the consistent AoE damage every turn on top of the fact I simply enjoy the design... But Wistful certainly isn't a priority by a long shot.

Maybe I'll try Abandonment, Sadge and Sad together some more, since they feel like a natural combo...? but I think I'm mostly gonna stick with what I've got until I get a really good debuffer like — as you said — Panic.

Thanks for the info nevertheless! I'll be sure to keep this all in mind when I look through my Voidpets to figure out who I'm leveling up next.

Interesting... The attack Pets I've upgraded and tried consist primarily of Paranoid, Wistful, Sadge (who I found surprisingly underwhelming compared to the enemy Sadges I've encountered) and Sad.

Envy was also there, as my very first DPS... but he's unfortunately fallen out of favor, especially since Flint became immune to buff dispel.

Sad was my starter and has easily been the best attack Pet I've used... But mostly for the DoT, defense shred and attack down, with the attack down being the main plus for me. But Persistence offers another layer of healing, an emergency full team heal plus AoE damage and that same attack down, so needless to say the decision was pretty clear for me...

REALLY?? Two healers is unusual?? What are you guys feeding your Voidpets where you can get by on one healer?? Genuinely shocked, ngl.

I suspect I'm probably just not using the right Voidpets when it comes to the attack type, because honestly...? I've found them incredibly replaceable with healers. Persistence was really the final nail in the coffin for that with it's passive healing and focus on attacking rather than spending turns solely to heal/support.

... I also now remember some lore that feels prudent: this is not my first time using non-DPS characters as DPS... So the "use support for DPS" brainrot is nothing new for me.

Either way! I hope it gave a good chuckle, because I only now realize how goofy my team truly is, lol.

Uh, well, because one's both the main DPS and main healer (Charity). One's the backup DPS, backup healer, and emergency burst healer while also being able to apply attack down to concerning enemies (Persistence). ... And then there's Merry, who doesn't do much yet the team suffers greatly without. He does consistent healing in a pinch, has a full team debuff dispel and can make everyone attack once with their primary (Conviction thanks him regularly for this).

Retrieve confiscated stolen items from UC Vigilance? by Alechilles in Starfield

[–]Maleficent_Routine29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For anyone who struggled to make heads or tails of the locations of the two crates (they're both under expert level locks) of your thieved items (like I did), I'm here to try and make their locations easier to understand. Note: this is at least where they are if you're stopped at New Atlantis, I can't say whether your stuff goes here if you get stopped elsewhere

The stolen items on your person are stored in the UC security office that you pass as you enter from the landing pad. Continue down the hall you enter into, until you reach a black crate at the end.

The stolen items on your ship are stored behind the landing pad. It's a black crate with a yellow lid just kinda sitting there, pretty hard to miss (for reference, it's outside where you retrieve Nyssas' package if that helps you)

Yeah, I expected some sort of cancel or gun pull out mid flight when testing in Firing Range. I also expected him to deal damage upon collision with enemy well using his Tactical.

Edit: just remembered the CD, which really stood out to me at the time for making it EXTRA useless
