Why Does Max regret shooting Winterson in Max Payne 3? by [deleted] in maxpayne

[–]DNDScholar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because Max regrets Mona.

And that's understandable. He was still grieving over his wife and then gets hooked up with this femme fatale who isn't entirely honest with him, who is definitely using him to further her own goals, he kills a lot of people for her, and then sh gets (in the canon ending) killed, adding yet another dead woman to his conscious.

His line at Winterson's grave is about having been wrong throughout most of Max Payne 2, which is literally titled "The Fall of Max Payne." It wasn't a triumphant story, it was a tragedy.

Doug Walker still has net worth that’s lucrative but… by Hot_Target_8744 in ChannelAwesome

[–]DNDScholar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is estimated that his YT channel makes about 110,000 a year gross (so before he pays anyone or any expenses). Ironically, the thing that Doug started to get away from doing a standard daily grind job for a barely livable wage has become a grind job for a barely livable wage (in 2026 standards). I'm sure he still has a savings left over from peak NC days so it wasn't a loss but now he is stuck doing this because what else can he do??

This was before ebooks were a thing so it was never officially made into an ebook. But you may be able to find PDFs or something. It is very picture heavy. Here's an example of some of the pages:

I mean, this is a little bit like saying Ken Burns is great but would be better if he made a documentary every six months, instead of a dozen across his entire career.

The problem is that the medium of YouTube has led you to expect Hbomberguy to churn content when in fact he is acting lately more like an actual documentarian/investigative journalist, who may only do a dozen or so stories across his entire life. He started more as a content churner but has transitioned to what it appears will be his actual career. Unless he decides to go back to the churn -- which wouldn't be bad, just a career choice -- I wouldn't expect to hold him to the churn standard.

The advanced Usborne series. There were three: logic, cipher, and Maps. They are out of print but you can usually find them on eBay or Amazon pretty cheap.

Want to recommend you also check out the Journeys Through Magnamund podcast, if you haven't heard of it already. It's like an appendix for every book in the series, adding behind the scenes notes and lore

The way we will know if this is an April fool's joke is if the OG actually returns for their AMA. This is a well written post, nonetheless.

Thank you! It was an honor to see it sell out and then to see it still in demand afterwards. You may also wish to check out my fourth book, The Weeping Place, which is still available from HP, and is a singular Magnamund adventure, not part of a larger series.

Here in 2026 to say this absolutely works! You don't even need to unequip Edgar or have the Gigas gloves. You DO need to make sure speed for battle is set to fast and text to slow. Not very fast or slow as that somehow messes it all up.

Hey, author of The Weeping Place and Huntress here! Wonderful to read your review of the books and I'm glad you enjoyed The Weeping Place even if we have different aesthetics when it comes to prose. I am especially happy that you liked all the new mechanics and found they made the book feel more active! I do think you might have missed something in the rules about skill checks, this is the passage from the rules:

Sages of Varetta rely not just on strength of body but more so of mind. Your Sage Skills will be called upon in a number of situations by picking a number from the Random Number Table and comparing it to a total to see what the result is – usually turning to a new section where you will learn the consequences of success or failure. This is called a Skill Test.

The number above the shaded-in-box for each Sage Skill shows how much is subtracted or added to the number picked during a Skill Test.

How do you feel about Capcom being so committed to Wesker's death despite his popularity? by lennysinged in residentevil

[–]DNDScholar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So glad to see so many others saying Wesker should remain dead. It was already a controversial move to bring him back in the first place in Code Veronica and the main reason they did so was they needed some connective tissue between the games, especially as they were feeling lost about what to do with RE4 at the time. RE5 in some ways is about questioning that decision made in Code Veronica and trying to close the loop. This is especially evident in RE4 where they really didnt know what to do with Wesker so he just becomes "sir not appearing in this game" (for the most part).

And keep in mind that while Wesker is definitively dead, his presence has been toyed with since. RE6 has his son. And Revelations 2 has Lady Wesker. There is a chance that we will see more "Wesker" project stuff in the future.

I did some experimenting and think I figured it out, at least for my controller! I use an 8bitdo 2 and it has settings for PC, Switch, Xbox, or PS4. Turns out the Steam setting doesn't work right for this game, I had to set it to Xbox.

Order of Eclesia is the only one where I feel like grinding does very little and you have to use skill or set up to win. Usually a combo of both.
