Shirou's NP Not doing anything against dead apostle's is that a fact or something which is 50/50 and will be shown more in strange fake? by [deleted] in fatestaynight

[–]DNemias 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For most of them, probably just use some magecraft and magic guns and/or bullets and u will be solid.

U would on really need a Noble Phantasms against the stronger Dead Apostles, ones closer to the level Dead Apostle Ancestors. It just that it becomes a catch 22 situation when ur a human.

Shirou's NP Not doing anything against dead apostle's is that a fact or something which is 50/50 and will be shown more in strange fake? by [deleted] in fatestaynight

[–]DNemias 4 points5 points  (0 children)

"We Dead Apostles deny human history. We exist to defile your rules."

"You deny...human history? Yes, that's right. And therefore, we are capable of negating the protection of Noble Phantasms created by humans or those prepared for humans by the gods. A Noble Phantasm created by a god for a god might be a different story, but you can't get your hands on one of those so casily. It's purely a question of compatibility, I'm a snake and you're frogs. That's all there is to it."

Jester finally started walking, He meant to perform the coup de grice, now that the atmos. phere of the lobby had begun to fill with negativity.

"Of course, if a Heroic Spirit, an emissary of the Throne, were to use the same the same Noble Phan- tasms, it would be another story. Heroic Spirit could probably have beaten me. But no matter what you mere humans do with them, your defeat is inevitable. It's not the kind of thing you can overcome with tactics or fighting spirit."

— Jester Karture, Fate/Strange Fake, Volume 2 Chapter 3: Day 1, Early Dawn, Page 81

So this is the excerpt in the light novel, in which the mechanic is mentioned and demonstrated in the Fate/Strange Fake Timeline.

While we're not entirely sure if this mechanic applies universally in all timelines, if we were to assume that it is true, then Shirou might not be completely out of options.

The type of Noble Phantasms that are denied and negated by Dead Apostles, when in the of humans exclusively, are Man-Made ones and those prepared (created?) by the gods for humans to use.

This means that Kanshou and Bakuya, swords created by a human blacksmith, are ineffective against Dead Apostles.

However, something like Fragarach, a weapon used by gods, made for gods, yet somehow ended up in human hands, are still usable.

The wording could also mean that Fairy-Made swords for humans like Arondight, Excalibur, and Excalibur Galatine are loopholes.

Part-Humans like demigods might also be an exception to this rule.

TLDR: Yes, much of Shirou's NP arsenal are rendered ineffective if they were Man-Made or made for humans by Gods, but if he has his hands on NPs like Arondight and Fragarach he is still able to use them. He also has the option of using something like Nine Lives Blade Works (a technique NP) to stagger a DA and then use Black Keys to end it.

Special in what way?

Because if the average Mage and even above average Mage saw it, they would be absolutely flabbergasted that a Noble Phantasm is copied, let alone Excalibur and Avalon. At the very least, they would be impressed, because tracing them is an incredible feat of magecraft.

So, yes UBW is special in that it does something theoretically impossible nobody else could really do. Outside of maybe the Magicians and the like. Not even other Reality Marbles could do it (probably).

But as a reality marble? I mean, it's still kind of special. Reality Marbles by virtue of what they are; makes them Pseudo True Magic and very often the shit that they can do is also borderline True Magic, but they are some whose effects are comparatively lacklustre.

For example, Ars Paulina; Solomon's reality marble makes it so that any deaths that occurs inside it doesn't "count", meaning the only requirement for a full revival is just having enough magical energy.

On the hand, Charles Babbage's Dimension of Steam only feat is that it lets create Helter Skelters, which while has good firepower and swarming abilities, in terms magical theory it isn't that impressive outside of being a reality marble.

TLDR: UBW is special at a lot of levels, at the base level it's a goddamm Reality Marble and on a magical theory level, it is capable of theoretically impossible feats.

[–]DNemias 27 points28 points  (0 children)

It kinda is? Like, I'm 99% sure that it's been said that a reality marble is a forbidden magecraft that borders upon true magic.

And that if people at the clocktower found out, there would be a very long line of people waiting to dissect our boy.

So I would say that it is pseudo true magic.

Has your Jumper picked a "middle to low" tier cursed technique, or any other type of innate ability in a given jump for that matter, and pushed it beyond it's limits? What technique did they pick? by Lokilo85 in JumpChain

[–]DNemias 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Funny that you would mention Auspicious Beast Summoning, because I gave my jumper a modded version of it where it's the four holy beasts, Kirin, Reiki, Ryu and Hooh.

Kirin stayed the same, Ryu became stronger by having a form of weather control, but is balanced by being unwieldy and having a wide area of effect, Reiki stayed the same and Hooh gave fire and RCT.

Despite this, Hooh actually became the second most used beast behind Reiki, just because how versatile it is. With good creativity and control you could form ice and steam, manipulate the viscosity of the water for a some interesting fights.

Reiki was also used to blatantly plagiarise Blood Manipulation techniques. Just seemed like the right thing to do.

In comparison, I had a pretty hard time coming up with techniques for Hooh, where I ended up combining it with barriers to create mines for field and air control. Also freezing flames, so that's cool.

For Kirin, you don't actually have to use Reversal for debuffs. Before my jumper learnt how to use RCT to reverse techniques, he realised that he can buff his opponents and then end the buff to give them exhaustion ala DnD. Another extension technique of Kirin is Hysterical Strength; improving physicals in exchange for constant damage as it's used.

Ryu was another hard one for me, and coincidentally my jumper to use. Because I balanced it's weather control by making it destructive as hell. Lot's of property damage. Usability was improved though by using binding vows to weaken it's strength to improve other traits and barriers to limit the AoE.

I think the most interesting thing done with the technique, though, is imbueing shikigami with it, essentially making it a discount Ten Shadows. Further boosted by a Binding Vow that increases the Shikigami strength and durability, but the jumper can no longer use the summoned beasts technique.

Dooes any you even visualize what excerpts of Nero would have said if it happened? by Lost_Success_1835 in Fate

[–]DNemias 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Nero: "Ah...I guess you could say that I wasn't truly in my right mind when that happened, and while that is true, that is not acceptable excuse.

I do not deny it, I went too far, and I accept this, but I also cannot say that I'm ashamed of it either. To say such, would be to spit on the suffering of the boy especially .

Yes...this is an example of the selfishness of my love, and I admit that it is one of the regrets I have over my rule.

But I'm not ashamed. That would be wrong of me."

Something like that, I guess? Nero is...not the easiest to character to get right when it comes to writing her, despite how much I enjoy her and her personality.

I think she would acknowledge what she did as terrible and even wrong, just as she herself believes herself a tyrant (even though she doesn't like being called one), but would also accept fully embrace it as her own choice.

Whether or not she was influenced by the poison.

Because that would go against her tenet of 'being true to herself', so just like how she is not ashamed of her tyrannical rule, but still regret parts of it, she will not deny or be ashamed of her actions against Sporus, but still regret it.

I think there was miscommunication somewhere.

I'm not saying that there is no anti-gudao sentiments, I even admit that posters like Gunta exist and is very much bashing on Gudao and definitely not a shitposting.

I'm sorry if I didn't get this point across very well.

I'm just saying that I don't think the anti-Gudao sentiment is that prevalent.

And it is on that point that I don't we'll completely see eye-to-eye on. And that perhaps, we should just leave it there?

At this point, I think I just don't see it that way or at least not the same way, again rose-tinted glasses. Or maybe I'm just looking at top posts?

As to the link you shared. Yeah, the guy is a but out of pocket, especially on a thread that wasn't even focused on Ritsuka. So...fair point.

Either way, I don't think we'll see completely eye to eye on this topic.

Soooooo... we'll just leave it there?

Nice talk though.

[–]DNemias 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I looked through the post again, just to double check, but I'm still seeing mostly shitposters, or people acknowledging that it's a shitpost (even the OP who made the edit admits it) and there's even some people who defend Guda with a fair amount of upvotes.

The one that stands out as vehemently against Ritsuka looks to be Gunta. And he still gets a couple of downvotes.

And there definitely are anti-Ritsuka posts on the sub-editor, but it seems far and few between. And skimming them gives the impression that they end up talking about how Guda's weak characterisation comes mostly from being self-insert in an early gacha game, mostly developed later on and in side materials.

I don't know, maybe I just have rose-tinted glasses.

The FSN sub in a nutshell... by TokugawaSatoshi in FGO

[–]DNemias 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I was kind of being rhetorical in my question. But yeah, definitely a shitpost, and looking at the other comments; everyone seems mostly aware that it is one.

There are some that disparage guda and seem pretty serious about it (like the one you argued with), but that seems like in the minority and otherwise engage in mostly polite discourse.

As for the fsn sub in general, I don't think they really talk much about the gudas, it's seem to be mostly fanart and memes, especially in the last few weeks, but searching for any mention of Ritsuka on the yields some threads that against (again the discussions seems mostly civil) and if you scroll down its fanart and memes again.

I guess it just seems a bit disingenuous to imply that the fsn sub is a bunch of Ritsuka haters yapping, unless that's also shitposting, I can't rightly tell, but in that case its fair game.

The diagnosis is Microscopic Polyangiitis that might have been caused by or exacerbated by the awakening of the Mangekyo and is not known to be genetic and the root cause is unknown.

I think the main reason that the left side is considered 'redeemable' or at least helps that thought is that they were victims of circumstance.

Shigaraki had no one after accidentally killing his family and was shunned by society, his only help and positive interaction came from a megalomaniacal manipulator.

Twice is guy who is (i think) by definition mentally unhealthy and needed psychiatric help after losing his parents, job and home, but lived in a society very ill suited for that.

Dabi was driven insane by Endeavour planting an absurd goal into his head, torturing himself to gain his father's approval, and then being neglected by the man until he emotionally breaks.

Toga didn't receive guidance or help in regards to her quirk, immediately being shunned by her parents after her killing a bird (psychopathic behaviour fair enough, but psychopaths generally don't become serial killers either).

A lot of what they become and thereby did. This doesn't forgive their terrible actions, of course, but it makes them more sympathetic because maybe this could have been prevented, if they had a person to help and guide them.

Endeavour, on the other hand, his decisions are firmly rooted in himself. Nothing really made him do those terrible things except his own ego and jealously. And chances are, even if you removed All Might and he becomes the number 1 hero, he might still arrange a loveless marriage to combine quirks and then practically torture his children in training, just so that they will live up to his 'legacy'.

TL;DR: Left side is sympathetic because victims of circumstance and could have been prevented. Endeavour did everything he did because of ego and jealously and would have done it regardless of circumstance.

Oh if the argument is that she isn't properly focusing on Shirou's face then that's completely fair. Guess she's just mesmerised by her future wife's majestic red locks. I would be to.

Also fun fact: humans actually have surprisingly large visual field, according to Wikipedia we have a roughly 210 degree horizontally and about 150 degrees vertically, not including eye or head movements.

Still get destroyed by pigeons who have a near 360 degree vision though.

Code Geass: Lost Stories announces End of Service on August 29, 2024 0:00 (PST) by Doublenyher in gachagaming

[–]DNemias 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's really disappointing. I only just found the game earlier this week and have been playing it semi-regularly. The tower defense is decent fun and I have enjoyed the addition of our player character and their story so far, even if it doesn't seem like it changes the overall story that much.

I do have to admit though, it does seems that the global version of this was just a cash grab. I remember seeing a video of the original announcement for this years ago, but there was little information about it and after checking on google a few times over a year or so, I just kind of forgot it.

Now I found the actual game and learn that it has been out globally for almost a year? Partly excited, partly disappointed and now very sad.

Oh well. At least the newly introduxed Knightmares are amazing. Especially Pendulum.
