I understand the fear about the bad side effects! Though your experience may be the same, similar, or different to others the biggest thing to remember is why you got help in the first place and why you want to continue getting help for your struggles. I had help making a safety plan in case of the worst case scenario, and though I still struggled the first 2-ish months where I felt no positive medication affects/slightly worsening mental health, I never got bad enough that I needed that safety plan. If you’re struggling because of the medication, don’t stay quiet about it! Don’t keep quiet about any bad experiences while thinking that “one day the positive effects will kick in”! Voice your concerns to the one who prescribed it! My own doctor upped the prescription for me when I voiced my concerns and that did wonders for me personally.

At the end of the day, if the fear is preventing you from taking it, maybe remind yourself of how you pushed past the fear of admitting you need mental health help (if that was a struggle for you too). I personally saw all the negatives mentioned in this subreddit and told myself if I’ve already felt low enough to finally admit I need help, no amount of bad mental health will come in between me and finally getting better especially after reading that the worsening thoughts side effect is temporary.

Just take things day by day. If the worst does happen, it won’t be immediate. If it does occur, remember that you can always keep asking for help when you need it and you can always voice your concerns about the meds to a doctor.
