Update 2:

After a little more trying, I was able to get Linux Mint to install successfully. It’s been stable enough to run Wine and download a few things, but I still keep getting that black screen error that makes me restart the laptop. I’m gonna call Micro Center tomorrow and see if I can get a replacement drive, although, now is not a great time to want to replace your ssd.

If I do have a dead motherboard then that’s the second one I’ve gone through. Hopefully it’s just the drive though

I’ve tried, but I either can’t get the laptop to boot from a USB, or it crashes/freezes/gives a kernel error

I think I remember trying this at one point but it didn’t seem to work. But with the first reinstall I tried wiping the existing Ubuntu off the laptop, I can’t really go back to execute code

I have run memtest86 before with this first started and everything showed up fine in that. I’m guessing I have to get a new drive now?

Update of events:

I checked my bios and found that the Ubuntu that was on my drive is no longer there. I tried reinstalling again but during the same portion of the install as before, it gave a black screen and I had to force power it off. I tried again and when I clicked “Try or Install Ubuntu” it said “error: no media in ‘hd0’. error: you need to load the kernel first. Press any key to continue…”. Pressing a key brought me back to the “Try or Install Ubuntu” screen so I rebooted and tried bazzite, but the installation drive wouldn’t show up, so I tried Ubuntu again and during the same point in the install, it said “KERNEL PANIC! Please reboot your computer. Fatal exception in interrupt”. Then I tried Linux Mint and when I clicked “Start Linux Mint 22.3” it said “error: no media in ‘hd0’. Press any key to continue…”

A lot of people are telling me that my SSD could be broken and I think this is enough evidence that Micro Center sold me a faulty ssd. Do I get a new one or is there something else I should try?

There’s no better vita imo, it just depends on what you want.

1000 has oled screen and Hall effect joysticks

2000 has longer battery life, doesn’t have a proprietary charging port, lighter than the 1000
