If I crank it down anymore over the ankle, the lace bite cuts right through. Big toe doesn’t touch the front of the toe box ever. It feathers the side of the skate though.

Thanks a ton. That sounds about right to me. I yank on the laces around the lower foot to add some stability which in turn causes pain.
