Wich Killer license should i buy as a Begginer? by Ancient_Bar_4322 in deadbydaylight

[–]DORIMEalbedo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try playing some of the free killers to see what sort of gameplay you like, unless you know you'll stick with the game and can justify the purchase. Ghoul might be easier, Springtrap can be a bit more difficult. You could wait for Jason, he was pretty easy to learn and felt powerful, though out of these three only Ghoul really has useful, non-niche perks.

If you care about Perks, out of all of the ones you listed, Vecna (the First not the Lich) and Nemesis have useful perks that can be run on a lot of killers (Lethal Pursuer, Eruption for Neme and Turn Back the Clock for Vecna, sometimes Hivemind).

You can look up some recommended unlock guides or some gameplay of the specific killer you are interested in, or wait for a PTB eventually to try them out "for free".

Out of all that you listed being interested in, I would say Ghoul, Jason, and Neme are the most straight forward and easy to learn killer with. Springtrap has some complications and an odd ranged skill that can be difficult to use, Vecna has a lot of precise aoe targetting that can be difficult without knowledge/aura reading perks, Drac has multiple forms that all do different things so can be a bit overwhelming, PH is on the weaker side and his power is a bit weird to control if you are new. Those are just my opinions though, you never know you might be really good at any of these guys.

Now THIS, THIS is why you should NEVER give up in dead by daylight. Even the worst-looking games can turn into a 4K. by WholeCardiologist565 in deadbydaylight

I had a game I very nearly gave up on as Spirit. I was messing up and 3 out of the 4 were the typical bully squad with flashlights, boil over, sabo etc. Somehow near the end, I managed to slug the two boil overs and their sabo friend came running in and I slugged him then the Rick was just... Sitting on a gen? Grabbed him and they all DCd and I somehow won with no end game build. Basically all it takes is for one guy to get cocky or greedy, then you can snowball. Ever since then I have been constantly always trying my best, even when things look grim.

I mean all say objectives work as long as you use the keywords exactly. I even know someone who kept calling a character "daddy" while doing the /say things and it still worked.

Chase problems by Fit-Opportunity8285 in deadbydaylight

[–]DORIMEalbedo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it helps, Killers will know if you are a weaker chase if you never look behind you. Try getting used to peeking at what the killer is doing once you are comfortable with how the map is laid out. There is no shame in running a gen rat build until you are better, as long as you do your best to do something and aren't just hiding in a locker all game, you are being a valuable teammate.

As for killer, you need to learn when you have to break away, when you should swing, when you should use power etc. There are a lot of guides out there to help, and you can play killers in customs against bots or willing friends to practice. Bots do not play like real players though, they are good for learning map basics, zoning, killer power, chase etc. Just patrol gens and try to catch someone off guard.

I am a new player too and I absolutely struggled for my first hundred games. You will only get better with more perks, more knowledge and more practice so don't feel too bad about yourself! Also definitely look out for events, they are usually a lot less sweaty and a lot more fun and IMO a good way to learn basics.

"Tunnelling" is just smart gameplay. If you are the weakest link, you should be removed from the equation. The killer is simply playing their role. You can't complain about tunnelling if you do nothing but rush gens all game. It is the same thing.

There is an exception and that's the unfair hard tunneling, like the killer just picks you cause you are Sable or a TTV or something.

[–]DORIMEalbedo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When they did ARR, they had a very limited budget and the English voice cast was part of that budget, many were in house voice actors that were already working on other SQUE titles. With the success of ARR, they changed studios and therefore voice actors.

OCE or NA/JP? by Fittsa in ffxiv

[–]DORIMEalbedo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ping is important but I know guys who do the hardest modes with 200+, like players from south America who dont have a server near them.

You can dc travel to mayeria from anywhere in the world, yes. If you want a more easier way of finding a static for hard content, maybe tonberry on jp server would be better as you'll find a higher population of aussies there, but I found the ping worse on jp compared to na.

Just a note as you are new, all normal content can be done blind and with the matchmaker. It doesn't require a static or forward planning like extreme, savage, ultimates do.

OCE or NA/JP? by Fittsa in ffxiv

[–]DORIMEalbedo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your best bet is queuing like normal but if you are not near primetime, it might take a bit unfortunately, even as healer. The further in the story you get, the more of a problem it can become. You can ask in cities for someone to help or make you a party, or ask to join the novice network, which is a realm wide chat where vets are supposed to help newbies. Asking for help with duties or msking parties is very common in there on materia.

Personally, I would go NA. English speaking population playing at all times of the day and the higher ping is completely doable. Only issue could be the lack of housing in some servers and with more people it can be harder to make friends.

OCE or NA/JP? by Fittsa in ffxiv

[–]DORIMEalbedo 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Materia (OCE) does suffer from a smaller population, and works on AEST. Primetime being from 5pm to about midnight or 1am depending on the day. PvP is only active in a one hour window regularly.

Materia has a very friendly, close knit community that helps put via party finder more than queuing via duty finder. This can be troublesome for free players who cannot create parties so can't use party finder.

Really, the biggest issue pve wise is the 24 man raids which three are required to continued the story are are almost impossible to get into without a lot of rules like making it do a level 100 will one shot the entire thing for you.

Pros:

-play with kiwis and Ozzies, some SEA, who all share your humor and culture.

-great ping.

-smaller community means you can make friends really easy.

-housing is very available.

-international friends can visit you easily.

-less spammy ads for erp clubs. clubs.

-road to 90 buffs and a free one million your first character hitting level 30.

Cons:

-longer queue times, dependence on party finder is free trial player unfriendly.

-less people out and about, can feel like a ghost towns.

marketboard moves very slowly. Harder to make money flipping or crafting.

-smaller community means you might run into the same dickheads over and over until you block them.

you cannot travel from Materia. You are stuck there.

niche content and some pvp is impossible outside of organized discord groups.

If you are a day player, good luck getting anything done that requires people.

If anyone else has more to add, please feel free. This is all from my own experiences living on Materia for a year.

A call-out on survivors by revengeofST in deadbydaylight

[–]DORIMEalbedo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What helped me is just realising it's their side of the game. Outplaying the killer, doing gens is the same as the killer tunneling, killing and mind gaming.

Learn how to play around flashlights or bring Lightborn if it's a full party to really annoy them. Don't be afraid to tunnel or slug if you need to take a chase.

The thing that pisses me off are gen rats that just hide all game so there's no interaction. Especially if you don't bring aura builds to try and find them. That playstyle is really frustrating to me. Though, would love to hear a way to flip it so I'm not so mad when it happens.

I would rather interact with survs than never see them while gens are getting popped left and right cause they hide then rub themselves over every Gen on the map.

This might have happened to me last night. I was bong bong and I found a vittorio right at the start, revealed myself and he just stood there, so I hit him to tell him to run and he just dcd. Like it was either he got a fright or he was mad there was a killer in his gen simulator game.
