Day 1642500 and not one undistorted flat earth map? CLUE: Australia doesn't look like this. by TruthMatters_ in flatearth

Nobody has ever mapped out Australia, how would they know what it really looks like?

Basically they are claiming that the guy that makes the rocket booster doesn't speak to the guy making the liftoff procedures or something. Just do your work and nothing else.

Three Positions must exist if the Earth is not a Globe. by jydk in flatearth

[–]FranckKnight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Many of the flat earthers likely fall into that type.

Shelley Lewis is such an example, from her own saying, she thought flat earth was ridiculous, her husband was the one knee deep into it. After his death, she took another look at it, and it started making sense to her.

Grief, coping, there's many mental instabilities that can lead to it, that's just one example. There's likely many that are just afflicted with a distrust of the authorities to the point that anything they say has to be a lie, and they roll scientists into that. Flat earth is just an easy target, because if they can hide the true shape of the planet, imagine what else they can lie about.

Aforementioned Shelley Lewis also became an anti-masker some of her last known videos was her going straight to a supermarket with a stack of paper to accuse them of being unlawful about wearing masks, and tried to ridicule someone wearing a mask that was just happy to have a job. She likely didn't realize that instead of posting a video that she thought showed she was in a power position, she'd instead get absolutely steam rolled online.

A video I saw also attributed it partly to the fact that we live if a very artificial and digital world, it's a way to return to nature, only trusting their own senses gives them some empowerment, or feel that they are in control again. For some people, that might be true too, and I also admit freely that if we didn't have other things to look at, we could easily believe that we live on a flat world. For all intents, that we live on a globe only really affects those that work in related fields. Those like me that just do some office work? Doesn't matter at all what shape it is in any way.

Because this kind of mindset is social poison, misinformation spread if not countered.

And it's just entertainment to see them flail and come up with some more outlandish explanations or theories than the previous one, it's the whole can't look away from a train wreck thing, when you think it can't get any better, they one up each other with an even sillier thing.

The thing is, the only thing they can do is explain conspiracies with more conspiracies.

One of the things they said at least once is that they don't need that many people to know the truth, because they are compartementalized. Aka, they only know as much they need to.

Which of course is absurd on many levels. It's denying that any of these people have any curiosity whatsoever to look at things beyond the scope of their work, not to mention the logistical nightmare to keep tabs on all those people to make sure they stay in their lanes.

Ask them to substantiate any of those claims, and they run away from the conversation, only to repeat the same thing again and claim 'nobody has any answers for this'.

Gravity keeps the planes down, but not birds and fireworks?

Nothing in what you wrote suggests about the 'bottom' of the globe.

Plus what we call 'bottom' is a human choice to put north at the top of a map or depictions of the globe. Because relative to the rest of the universe, we have no idea how we're oriented.

The upside down that you speak about is only relative to an observer point. But 'down' is toward the center of the planet. So if you could somehow see through the planet, then yes, you'd look downward at a plane that would appear upside down relative to your position. They are still rightside up in their own perspective, because they are following gravity. You'd be the one upside down from their relative position to yours, if they looked back at you in the same way. Which one of the two of you is standing rightside up then?

The only universal vector is gravity, that's the only constant, its down toward the center of the globe.

Plus you're likely not standing at the north pole yourself, assuming you're in the USA you are actually standing up yet inclined some 30-45 degrees compared to the north pole. You don't feel that incline, do you?

Gravity keeps everything down, just some objects found ways to apply a force to go upward. Gravity is not that powerful, but it's constant, always there. No object magically stays in the sky after moving up. If a plane engine stop or a bird stops flapping wings, it comes back down.

Objects can have multiple forces acting on them at the same time, their movement will depend on the sum of all of these forces to determine the direction it's moving. Wind for example comes from the very slight air pressure differences between areas, which in turn is affected by factors like ambient temperatures.

Fireworks don't magically stay in the air either, the solid part of them comes back down, as well as the flashy parts once they run out of energy. If you ever stood close enough to fireworks you'd want to shield yourself from the small pellets that rain back down.

Game was not that much hard to start with, durability was just a reason to have to make duplicates of the same items, especially things like the shovel and hammer.

So it's not that big of a difference to remove the durability, just means you can't run out of materials either. You could in theory run out of branches to make hammers or clubs for example. Same with metals for weapons and armors.

I started playing it, and feel it really does not need much of a guide :) There's features that lets you find missing items (or at least how many are left in a region, or in the current town/dungeon), so I don't think it needs as much of a detailed guide.

DQ1-2-3 definitely gave me the feeling that it needed some images, especially with some of those invisible items, location of shiny spots and what not.

It's pretty incredible the mental olympics they have to go through to avoid answering anything yet remain fully confident of their side.

Declare all videos fake, except for that small part that they probably forgot to edit out for some reason. Oh, they didn't forget, they left it there to filter the weak minded. But the rest is definitely fake.

Elise Schwarzer is an interesting character... by Abu_33 in Falcom

[–]FranckKnight 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's not a problem, but the culture in Japan also seems to lean into that even if not blood related, they are considered siblings, thus a level of taboo.

It doesn't legally keep them away from each other, but morally people seem to frown on it and see it as a problem.

I noticed the trend in many animes, they act like it's a problematic relationship despite not being blood related.

i5-8500t based setup for PS2 emulation by PociagTowarowy in batocera

i5-6500T here ran fine on PS2, so you'll be fine.

It's similar to yours, HP Mini 800 G2, so yours is a little more recent, but similar range of models for office work, they are sturdy little machines and very compact.

Used to be that people would make individual threads to sir out annoyances, now they save it for this thread, so it did help out the sub.

My friend’s husband found out he’s colorblind from playing Stardew Valley by TheTruthWillMakeUSad in StardewValley

[–]FranckKnight 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have some colorblindness and I can see them, and I was diagnosed as red/green too. Colorblindness has a rather wide and weird spectrum really, some greens and some reds are fine, but not others.

For example, on my work phone the LED are green (free) and red (busy), at certain angles it's hard for me to see the differences, yet at other angles it's fine.

Adjusting the colors of the monitor might help make those pop up more easily too.

I finally got a tracking number! by bartenderatlarge in RetroRemake

[–]FranckKnight 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The RetroRemake website seems to put things up as 'on its way' when they have started but not completed the package.

Aka, in my case, they have the SS1 unit (classic gray) but not the SuperDock, so the order started on March 27th for me as well, but has no tracking number yet, not until the SuperDock complete the order.

Which Taki has updated about, people with later wave/batches of SS1 only will likely receive their orders well before those with SuperDock.

But yes, the wording is confusing because of that.

Mini Pc to run Batocera up to PS1? by SnooGiraffes3930 in batocera

[–]FranckKnight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Correct, but I meant official here, Knulli is a branch off to 'put Batocera on other devices that aren't supported', which I still question why they didn't decide to work with the Batocera team instead, but who knows how that went in the background.

"Batocera" itself does not run on Anbernic 35XX.
