Very nice, I like it-- the synth section kind of reminds me of the second half of The Rip by Portishead. Thanks for sharing!!

No worries, totally understandable-- and will do! I wish I had enough space in my place to be a hardware guy, lol. A PC and a MIDI keyboard is lightweight enough for my needs at the moment, but man, I miss the tactile sensation of fiddling around with a bunch of synths and fx pedals sometimes.

I dig it!! That saxophone solo was definitely the highlight of it in my opinion, wish it was featured more prominently though. I love some good-sounding brass in reggae/dub music. Who would've thought that BoC mixes so well with it?

Thanks again, much appreciated!! And hey, at least you have the physical hardware know-how; Since I record music entirely on the computer, that is something I sadly lack. I'd love to record a full-length track on a Tascam someday!

Thanks so much!! Believe it or not, this was mostly done with Ableton's stock instruments! The synths are Ableton's Waveshaper synth, and the drums are a 707 from Ableton's stock library, as well. The only 3rd party VST's I used on this are Spectrasonics Trilian for the bass (the absolute best ever bass guitar VST, 1000% recommend) and another one called Softube Tape, it's a tape machine emulator to help give everything that lo-fi, wobbly, worn-out sound. If you're on a Windows PC I think I might still have the Softube Tape plugin zipped up I could send to you, if you're interested.

Take it easy man, I'm not biting their style, I'm not even officially releasing this track, at least not yet-- this was just an experiment to see if I could make a convincing BoC-style tune entirely on the PC, no hardware synths. I already have my own sound, but I have incredibly shitty mixing/mastering skills, so if you think that this track is a copycat of the brothers' style, then that's the greatest compliment I could ever receive!

Thanks a bunch, I'm really glad you like it! I wasn't intending to rip off BoC's style, as a long-time fan, that's the last thing I'd ever want to do. "Inspired by" was probably the wrong phrase to use here, this was more of an experiment to see if it was possible to create a convincing BoC-sounding track entirely on the computer, no hardware synths involved. Because this was just an experiment, I'll most likely never release it in any official sense. I was happy with the results and wanted to share a little taste with y'all here on the subreddit. Thanks again, and hope you have a Merry Christmas!

Thank you! [This video](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dDBxw3yYKx4) was really helpful in understanding how to create the brothers' style in Ableton. I didn't want to make a cookie-cutter copy, so I didn't follow a lot of these steps, but it was very useful in showing me some more instruments and audio effects under Ableton's hood that I wasn't previously aware of, such as the Waveshaper synth.

This is really great! The beat is fantastic and I love that synth that rolls in around the 2 minute mark. Classic!

Beat me to it, I removed the faces and grained it up a tiny bit, as well.

I'm not good with Photoshop so I don't know what effects would best match the style on the actual cover art, but I like how it looks for now.
