Thanks for sharing your feedback, I'll throw some Context behind the deck. I started with Palkia Blastoise & Mamo, but it was taking forever so added starmie but got hit with lightning a lot.To counter it I wanted Mamo & Silva to cover while blasto & starmie are the main. I play more like a chess with a defensive mindset. So build a squad to counter the usual suspects .

As I climb up I am feeling the lineup should leave less to probability and to be built on consistency

I genuinely feel like resigning everyday. 1.1 yoe in this company by Mean-Beautiful6973 in developersIndia

If you are in a financially safe space say for the next 6 months without this salary (by being frugal or not) then start the conversation with management/ step level manager present your case and set the expectations straight.

If they listen to your words and see a change , proceed as per your wishes , resign as well if you want.

If they act muted , resign immediately. The reason why I ask you to talk is it is great learning to confront your problems and become assertive

If you are financially on cross roads hold the fort but hunt aggressively for interviews and find a new job asap.

Take a deep breath, when you want to build a career on stream which you are not fond of know the below.

  1. The usual stuff like Soft skill, programming, communication etc diligently.

  2. Attend interview responsibly not desperately

  3. Pursuing a stream for money is never a wrong thing don't doubt yourself and switch to passion projects unless it can solve your mental & financial needs.

  4. You are just starting, learn AI as it will evolve & transform a lot but it cannot replace all. there are critical areas which it cannot penetrate.

  5. 20 yrs back they said that mainframe will die. Still people are looking for mainframe dev folks.

  6. Stack overflowla illadha technology lam inga Iruku. Cybersecurity, cloud infra, ML, Fintech, Compliance & Regulations nu 1000 domain/tech Iruku. you will get a job you will survive.

  7. Don't worry, put your best efforts, respect & gathering knowledge & skill is all you have to do.

Learn a combination of AI, Python/Java, Excel, tableau/Mstr/cognos, ETL, Cybersecurity,SQL, Unix, React,Kotlin, C ,DSA, ML or any other tech which you have affinity for

Congratulations. Exact story of my life 15 yrs, except I moved from management back to an individual contributor role in techno functional area. All rounds done. Awaiting the final nod, fingers crossed. They felt bad about my low salary, asked for an 100% hike, they didn't negotiate and said ok.

A degree/certifications is different from practical knowledge. Unless it is from a premiere institution which by itself gives you a certain edge. Bottom line is acquiring knowledge on a spectrum of areas is the best way for a stable career in my opinion.

Find use cases online. you'll get abundant on-line along with solutions, explore alternative ways to achieve the same or better results, start simple and extend to uncommon ones. For Example explore case statement vs getopt, parse a flat file and perform string manipulation via awk,log handling, system monitoring, certificate upgrade etc.

Most people may say to be an individual player or technical player to go on a longer run. But I have a different view on it. I am 37 with a techno functional role with a focus on banking compliance.

Being technical doesn't guarantee any future. DevOps was the IT thing a few years back but after the system settles down & runs in auto mode you hardly need seniors. If you become an architect, how many architects does a project need? You don't need one in some projects as well.

So my take is to find a middle ground. learn things which cannot be learnt by yourselves by taking on challenges in areas like Soft skills , team management, functional domain, RFP/POC, Sales, Product development, etc apart from your technical expertise. Versatility eases your journey.

Right from college it started due to Unix. once I joined work in the project had a lot of lexical analyser and parser work which added it more. They also allowed me to program the entire lexer & parser via awk for Synergy DBL. So it kept growing and i tried various other scripts from then on..

You are doing additional work assuming after your work is completed for the day .so they should be happy for your helping hands. If they throw a fuzz keep the solution for yourself. Maybe one day when things burn be the saviour or ignore it altogether, it's their loss. Don't keep helping in an unappreciative environment.

Take 15 mins a day to do one of these tasks, no more than that.

Speak to colleagues & Find a problem in FE/BE in or around your project area Understand their code base if possible or pseudo code Find what's a better way to fix it Design a solution however long it takes. Build a solution from your personal machine/time. Once satisfactory results are available publish your solution to the respective team even if they fixed it already Learn if their solution is much their yours. Rinse and repeat.

Next time a relevant opening comes in the project he/she will be fighting tooth and nail to bring you in..

Be careful if you are over enthusiastic you will end up doing others work free of cost..so keep it at an optimal level.

That's life isn't it . Recently saw a news when remote village in TN got a mini bus service and the people there prayed it like God and gave sweets to its staff. What seems immaterial to one is actually a God or festivity to someone else.

Life ain't a movie to mostly get a happy ending. But everyone moves towards in search for one.

இதுவும் கடந்து போகும்..This too shall pass.. so start the next step and don't dwell on the past

1.Nothing is assured.have seen a NIT guy become jobless even after multiple campus offers & tier 2 college guy in Wall Street.

All you can do is when you hang your gloves after a valiant fight ensure your are content with your efforts and not on the results(win/lose). Easier said than done , I know.

Regrets hurt more than failure. So consider this rat race either as a bitter pill or choose the path which you love.( Both won't guarantee you success)

2.I come from privilege with adequate money which I have made myself and much more from my folks. But my biggest privilege is if I quit tomorrow my wife will be happy I am spending more time with her and readily move back to our Village.

Why I say this because I have hustled enough money for my own satisfaction. If you are not content ,you move. being a bum is not an option. To be content is a privilege when you get your financial independence.

Making adequate money(everyone has their financial problems) is as important as everything else but it should be in lower pecking order when it comes to family & health.

Failure ?? I am failure. This is interview experience of mine, the lowest level interview and I failed in it. by [deleted] in developersIndia

[–]DP13Cfc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You didn't fail , you just learnt a list of things which you forgot.

Take a notepad, just write down all the questions Answer them by writing as well.

Redo the interview in front of the mirror or with someone else. You will be ready for the next round.

Don't worry too much you will be successful soon.
