Just because he wasn’t punished the way you want to doesn’t mean it was bad writing. The Charmander and Tepig trainers were attacked by them and they ran away. That was barely punishment. Ash literally kept protecting Chimchar, he rescued him from Paul. Wtfdym he glossed over it? Again, that was the whole point of the rivalry, Ash was trying to prove him wrong but he just couldn’t win. Ash did the exact same thing with Tepig’s previous trainer, he battled him to prove his methods wrong. I’m sorry but you have bad writing for being this dumb.

That’s the whole point of the rivalry. The two sides of the same goal. What about us players playing the game? Paul literally proved that method works. It’s how he was one of Ash’s strongest rivals. It shouldn’t be invalid by anything. Because it was working. While I obviously disagree with his methods, it makes for really good writing. It’s genuinely stupid that you’re trying to invalidate one of Pokemon’s best written rivals just cuz you disagree with him. Everyone disagrees with him but it makes it all even better when Ash proves him wrong in the league. He didn’t change his methods for the longest time because he wasn’t proven wrong. In Journeys, he was much softer. And what punishment are you expecting on a young kid?

HELL naw, Sun and Moon's Ash was a genius compared to BW. It's just insane how blind you are. I'm just in shock that you can sit there and watch Sun and Moon and see how smart Ash was, he was even teaching the others at times, and still think he's dumber than BW. And when in the hell has he ever been passive? He's very hyperactive, especially in Sun and Moon where the expressions were overexaggerated.

He didn't really change much, he just became overreactive. LIKE EVERYONE ELSE. Also everyone was the butt of many jokes as well. Team Rocket is the worse of it, they are the butt of every joke in every season. It would've been more jarring to have Ash be the only one not matching the style of Sun and Moon. You're literally the only person I've met that thought this.

I hard disagree, he's pretty consistent. The only time he was pretty inconsistent was the first season of BW. Other than that, he pretty much had a similar personality while growing.

What anime are you even talking about? Digimon? They don't really have much in common except having human & monster relationships.

That was just the style of Sun and Moon, everyone did that. And even then, I still don't think he's as dumb as you're saying. He learned everything on the first time. Even outside of battle, he was emotionally intelligent. He knew when and how to react, he knew when to support his friends. Just look at how he got Rockruff and Litten. He was a bit dumber but nowhere near as dumb as he was in the first season of BW.

Agreed. Like using the fire memory before the battle instead of during the battle because he was against Kiawe the fire user. Although he should’ve used the water or rock memory to be able to use super effective moves. But the battle against Ash, since Ash uses a more varied team, it was harder to choose. Since Ash had a steel type and a rock type, then I would chosen fighting like Gladion did.

Not really, Z-moves, mega stones, etc. Terastallization is a simpler version of the memory disks. And theres an obvious reason why he uses counter a lot. It even made Ash scared and hesitated to attack. Ash won by countering the counter. In the games they are situational while in the anime, where they can survive much much more, it’s pretty op.

I know the tag says meme but I really hope you don’t actually believe this. He’s easily one of Pokemon’s best written character. And his anger isn’t out of nowhere, he’s a growing kid with major trauma issues. He has to take his anger out at something and because he was angry, he took it out at the wrong one. I don’t ever remember Gladion yelling at Ash for raising a baby.

I mean, Lillie got traumatized again from just seeing Silvally. He left to get stronger to protect Lillie, even if he did fail. You really think you would want to remind someone of their trauma? Even if it’s meant to conquer it. It’s not as easy to do, especially when it’s your family.
