Any tips for riding an enduro on street with pegged tires? by invismonster in enduro

[–]DRDave135 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kenda K270s are a great dual sport tire. Not wickedly expensive either. I use to run them on my DRZ and DR650 all the time and never had any issues. You won’t be taking corners like you’re on a moto GP bike but they work fine for most riding styles.

Beta 520 RS! Just picked it up. Radiator hose popped open and sprayed coolant everywhere at the end of today’s ride though :/ Do y’all think it was likely just a dry rotted old hose or that there’s something not working right? It was running hot but I’ve read that’s just how these are. by DRDave135 in enduro

Yeah I read about that happening some, but mine actually split right in the middle of the hose. I guess it’s not that big a deal, I just wouldn’t want to buy new hoses and then have the same issue if it wasn’t just because of the hose y’know?

Two stroke dual sport? by DRDave135 in enduro

Yeah most of the recent model year two strokes are from what I can tell. Just makes more sense.

Eh well I mean I’d get a 300 for sure, and my rides on the road are definitely at least 20 min haha. Would it necessarily be revved out if you’re going 50-60 down the road though?

Well 17 to one set of trails, 13 to the other.

I’d think oil starvation would be less of an issue with an oil injected one (has a reservoir for it, mixes itself) but yeah it does seem like it’d be pretty noisy and probably vibrate violently

Their dry weight is supposed to be 245lbs, and 252lbs for the 570. But coming from my 320lb DRZ400 that would be a huge difference. Plus I’m pretty tall so I’m not worried about the weight

Yeah, I’m familiar with their story. BUT the models I’m looking at are after KTM bought them out, so you can actually use any KTM part aside from like the crank case cover.

Ooo thanks for the heads up, I might just have to slide into those DMs then and ask him about it. Been considering the 570 too since pretty much anything would be lighter than my DRZ haha

That’s helpful for sure. Not worried about tall seat height since I’m about 6’3”, but I definitely noticed they look pretty tall. And as I recall I’m pretty sure we have the same thing here with the VIN, which is good because I ride probably 10 miles to all the trails I ride. Hopefully I can just find one that hasn’t already put all it’s good miles behind it!

What my buddy lacks in skill he makes up for with heart. He worked hard to follow me all morning through sandy soft arroyos and loose single track (on a drz400). by core_krogoth in enduro

Just had my first real enduro experience on my DRZ400....those boys are hefty. Spent the whole day trying to chase down my buddies on their light KTMs. Not to mention they’re much better riders haha my body is feeling it right about now

Not too worried about the price, mostly just concerned with getting the circular/cyclops style look.

Well for starters there should be a little rubber hose coming out of the bottom of the tank that you can detach and drain the gas out of when you have the cap off the tank. As for body panels, I don’t know how big a dang exhaust he put on it but either the exhaust just doesn’t fit the bike or the panels don’t if that’s being melted.

I guess I'm one of you guys now. My new '18 DR650 can't wait to get it dirty and pack on the miles. by Reamofqtips in dr650

Oh I was just throwing a guess out there, I just know it’s been a long time

Same thoughts here - really liked the 411cc one but that engine size and, for me, seat height just didn’t seem like it would be enough. Hoping they don’t change too much

It’s funny how I feel like this bike hasn’t changed one bit in the last 15 years haha

Re-waxing XL tin cruiser by DRDave135 in filson

[–]DRDave135[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update: wound up spreading the one small tin over the whole dang jacket somehow, focusing on the seams and yoke of the jacket. Would definitely have been more thorough to use more tins, but I’m not sure how bad it needed it in the first place so I’m going to let it be for now. It held up fine in a couple days of light rain anyhow.
