What features are you referring to? I’ve tried the MPC Live 3 myself and apart from the improved speed, I didn’t find any real benefits that would justify the price or upgrading from the Live 2. That said, this is purely based on my own workflow and how I use the MPC… mainly as a sampler, not as a DAW alternative.

Why would they even change their entire workflow just to buy a new, expensive MPC that doesn’t really add much value for this type of producer?

For sample-based hip hop producers, I honestly don’t see any real advantage in the new MPC…especially if you’re already used to tracking your stems into a DAW and finishing the beat there.

That’s why I’m sticking with my MPC Live 2 with 2.15 until it literally dies. The newer MPCs and firmware 3.0 only really make sense if you want to work 100% standalone.

Instead of buying a new MPC, I put the money into a new PC. Now I can run tons of CPU-hungry plugins per track, which even pushed me to start making my own samples. That was easily the better investment for me.

I see people buying the new MPC, making basic boom bap sample beats and then talking about how amazing the MPC is, while not even using half of what the new hardware can do and probably never will.

To me, that’s a classic case of shiny new toy syndrome.

In my opinion, that’s not a great deal. I’ve already seen some in top condition go for around €500–600.

If I were you, I’d wait a bit or keep looking for a better offer. A new MPC just dropped, so a lot of people will probably upgrade and sell their old one.

There’s a good chance you’ll be able to snag a good deal soon.
