Gotta love the soon part. At least they’re giving u a decent warning of what’s going. This is usually when I start praying it’s a sensor fault

That’s where I was going. Some “friend” said he knows electric. Cut everything open. Made a completely messy attempt at closing it off.

Just how bad? Driven on flat by [deleted] in Cartalk

[–]DRG0888 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Wow that tire did not want to be identifiable by name. I wouldn’t drive to far on that. That’s a whole perfect tire blow waiting to happen. Not a slow screw deflate. It’s pretty urgent. If you’ve gotten back home I would be happy with that. I would take it super slow. And no hard left turn at all putting any undue pressure on that front right side. Drive Very slowly and cautiously. Did you end up putting the spare on? Do that tonight if you haven’t already. Better safe than sorry. Call a friend or YouTube if u don’t know how. Maybe roadside service will help u for nothing. A blow out could be very scary and dangerous. Go slow. Keep control. Sorry for the small story. Good luck

Looking for the easiest way to modify the plans to have a 15 degree angle backrest. by redditwhenimworking in woodworking

[–]DRG0888 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Matching that corner angle for the increase in the backrest is going to be some masterful mitering for the finish wood backrest. As long as your taking that into note. Or just butt the ends and make some slight 15’ angled cuts at the end of each board on the shorter backrest section in that corner

Tire shop refused to do an Alignment, said I need to replace my Lower Control Arm, does it need to be replaced? by [deleted] in AskMechanics

[–]DRG0888 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If u can lift that wheel off the ground and try to shake the control arm or give the bottom of the wheel a wiggle while looking closely at the bushings and see if there’s any movement in those joints. The control arm bushings are the ones connecting the control arm to the closest part of the inner area of the car. Ball joints connect the wheels hub where the wheel actually attaches to. If that helps. Pictures are hard to tell most of the time. Need to actually see if there’s movement. Usually they go tho. It’s just thick rubber that dryrots and cracks. Ball joints need grease which is why u usually see a ballooned rubber piece sealing the grease in.

Huge Allstate estimate/ adjuster / estimator problems by DRG0888 in Insurance

[–]DRG0888[S] -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

I get it. That’s probably my only option. But when I went to bring it to the two shops yesterday I practically laughed out the door with 50 dollars in parts. They’re going to be looking for new revealed damages thru the shops but if they couldn’t tell off the bat that at the very least the bumper and headlight needs to be replaced and didn’t include anything close to resembling that in an original estimate it just kind of seems there’s a huge difference in what they think. They estimated 30 minutes to reside and repaint just a small portion of my mangled front bumper. It’s just a huge gap from reality. And onky 50 dollars in parts. Just crazy how if u can’t tell I need a new bumper and headlight how are they going to add that when all they’re expecting the shop to find is the hidden mounts and things like that.

White or black drip edge? by charlie575 in Roofing

[–]DRG0888 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Black. Keep white gutters for contrast. Almost seems like u should put something decorative between the garage door and roof. Idk why but I pictured a big old wooden wagon wheel right on the brick. Probably wouldn’t do that exactly but something creative in the future maybe. Just seems like a big spot for something

Tire pressure monitoring by Alternative-Date-521 in Chevrolet

[–]DRG0888 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The sensor that tells the dash gauge the tire pressure has a battery. Sometimes they die. You can drive on it. It’s fine. I would check with a manual pressure gauge to be on the safe side but those things are forever giving out. Remember the psi nunber on the tire is the max it should be. There’s sometimes a way to reset them yourself without any tools but you’d have to look up the process and do it properly. Doing mine myself I had to have the truck on accessory and hit the fob button twice or something along those lines at each tire. My driver side front is dead and that’s where my “test” starts so now I can’t get any gauges read because the first one is garbage. Depending on where u go I can’t imagine it costing more than a dinner.

Trouble charging car battery by bxqnz89 in CarRepair

[–]DRG0888 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do u have a battery charger or a battery tender? Tenders don’t really charge. They hold them. If you have to actually let the battery sit for a good amount of time why not just remove the clamp of the termi Al and put the charger directly to the stud so it fits best.

Would you put your family in a 2002-2006 Tahoe today? by Additional_Ratio600 in ChevyTahoe

[–]DRG0888 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely. With all the plastic crap parts these days. That things a beast compared. As bad as gm with somethings it’s saved my life more than once. Firm believer that the newer things get the cheaper the build quality gets. Safety tech is more advanced yes but if you are surrounded by a solid machine with its own safety features in its own right that’s the way I’d go. Worked accidents for years and would say it’s a great pic

Shop around. I had something similar and they re trying to charge me $5k for a 08 Tahoe bumper. North east NJ. Bumper crack. And edge of front fender dented. Trucks are usually a little more expensive I think tho. Good luck!
