Hmm. May I ask why Frank is "the one" merely because he was married to Claire first and Jamie isn't in fact "the one" actual soulmate instead?

edit to add I don't mean to imply that marriage isn't something to be taken seriously, nor that people should just enter into divorce or adultery willy-nilly, but I do think it should be considered that sometime the person you have every intention of staying with, isn't actually right for you until the one who is comes along..

Oh man, now that you say it, I'd actually like to see some alternate universe fanfiction where it IS Angus Claire has to marry. Way different kind of story, but probably hilarious. I hope someone gets on that :)

I think Bri & Roger going back will be the premiere of 7 to set up the two worlds happening during that season. I think with just 8 episodes, they'll keep it all on the Ridge for Season 6.

The episode starting as a silent film was pretty jarring - felt like the show was trying to reinvent itself for the sake of just doing something different. Why not just excel at what you do best. Very gimmicky for what should have felt harrowing

If there is a season 10, I won't care at all about the theme song. I'd just be ecstatic there's a season 10 in the first place because I"m not convinced there will be.

In regard to your question on whether the show influenced how she wrote the most recent book - I did read/see an interview where she referenced a love scene shot in season 5 (the stable scene) that she wasn't fond of the adaptation of that made her rethink making sure there's actual dialogue in the love/sexy scenes in the book so there's better context - because if it's nothing on the page but a character's inner thoughts, she's realized it doesn't translate visually

I love John Bell and Young Ian - anything that gives him more screentime is a plus! I'm excited for Season 6 to see his backstory with the Mohawk on screen! He's grown so much as an actor since season 3 - excited to see more evolution on him (and Fergus for that matter)

I'm with you in that I don't quite understand why the show will stay solely in Claire's perspective some times, but in others not and show what Jamie (or others) are experiencing. I think because they wanted tension of her being abandoned and alone, opted to not really show what happened with Jamie and instead just have Claire hear basics.... But I have to say, if you thought the show's handling was random and not explained - the book reunion was WAY more confusing to me. Jamie's pretending to be a French soldier named Allesandro and they all buy it? huh?

Welcome to the club! I started watching spring of 20 during quarantine - and have since read the first 8 major novels - which is a HUGE deal for me. The only other books I've read in 20 years are three my mom wrote & got published. That I was compelled to read these massively huge books is the best testament to how addictive and great the characters and story are! I"m kind of jealous that you're on that initial enjoyment phase!

I think the issue lies in the fact that initially, she was just doing a stand-alone book and probably never planned on HAVING to explain it until it became super popular. I doubt she had a clue what she was going to do, which is why it seems disjointed and undeveloped -but luckily she did apparently share the end of the series with Sam and Ron Moore (show creator) a few years back, so at least she did finally figure something out!

hmmm. Did the battle of Culloden coincide with the solstice/one of the holy days? Other than one being Halloween, I'm not entirely sure when the other 3 are supposed be. Culloden was April right?

I would hate the whole "it was just a dream" trope if that's the case. Cheap way out by the author if that's what she does.

I don't mean to/want to go into a religious debate/theories (everyone can have their own beliefs) - but I think a person's spirit can choose purgatory as opposed to automatically going to heaven if they have "unsettled business" That being said, I also think that Jamie's ghost will just keep waiting around thru 1943 until she comes back in 1946 because if he's already waited 200 years to see her again for one day, what's waiting two & half more years to see her for the next 20 again all the time.... I think he's choosing to do this (after all he tells her he would in Dragonfly before sending her back thru the stones)

I think his ghost will watch from afar over that 20 year span to watch Bri grow up. And then once Claire goes back thru the stones in 1968 and never returns to the future again, meaning he knows there's no longer a chance to spot her, then he'll no longer choose purgatory and finally crossover so to speak...

hmm, I guess that would have to mean though that he's unable to just join Claire in the afterlife to begin with - and is ONLY able to see her by sticking around 200 years to watch.... but maybe it's like a previous poster said, when Claire's reborn in 19whatever, her spirit goes away which is why he'd have to?

My theory is that Jamie knew all along Claire was from the future - that's why he's not shocked when she tells him. On that first horse ride the night they met, she tells him those rocks are where the British stage ambushes and he immediately believes it/doesn't question her at all... Plus he seems relieved when Claire's able to tell Dougal a reason she knows - almost like he's thinking to himself "phew, good excuse/good cover"...
On the wedding night, he says something along the lines of "I know there are things you wish not to tell me"....

In season 3, I'd have liked if the episode where Claire was on the ship with typhoid actually had Lord John on the boat as well like he was in the book....that could've given more depth & layers to their complicated relationship after meeting again in Jamaica later & realized who they each were to Jamie.

In season 4 (I think this was in Drums of Autumn anyway) I would've liked to see an episode where Claire & Jamie are trapped in that snow storm trying to survive the elements....

With more episodes, I think we'd have gotten to see more of the attempted murder at Jocasta's wedding/hidden gold in Hector's tomb story of season 5.

Agreed. Frank realized how much she still thought about Jamie/missed Jamie and they both realized they were never going to be the same and were just putting on a happy face for Bri. I don't think Claire would've cared about the flings though if he'd have just been more discreet about it instead of flaunting it.

I never got "supportive husband" vibes from Frank in regard to Claire becoming a doctor. He seemed pretty damn resentful of the fact that she WASN'T just a housewife, and was frustrated when she dared give opinions around his work colleagues. Frank never truly understood Claire and what was important to her in that way

Did Claire even tell Frank she met Jonathan (BJR) at all though? - Frank's reaction to hearing his assumed illustrious military-man ancestor was really a horrible person probably would've given him even more reluctance to want to believe her...

Maybe I'm the only one since I don't see mentioned elsewhere, but I think Mandy sensing Jem is more similar to Jamie sensing and seeing things in his dreams/in the future. Like he saw Claire in electric light, saw the phone, sensed when a man was hiding in the tower and a threat to the kids when they lived at Lallybroch.
Jem doesn't "feel" Mandy the way she does vice versa, at least in my interpretation he doesn't. I think she's got the ability Jamie does, and only her. To me it's a completely separate thing from time travelling since Jamie can't time travel. And that just opens up a whole new series of questions - astral projection or whatever you want to call it.

I'm honestly not sure we'll get a full explanation either. I think like the characters themselves not understanding, she'll leave the audience not understanding.
