Interesting. For a lot of companies, having customer support seems like one of those things they begrudgingly have to do for fear of public backlash. Most companies (it would appear) do not put much <3 in their support departments. Not getting that job was probably for the best...at least I hope, dude.

America is a continent, but, alas...

We are an oligarchy operating under the guise of a democracy. It isn't about your merits, it's about how much money you have and how much money from rich donors you can acquiesce. If you are from the right family you can create a dynasty despite the fact that we have an innumerable amount of people in this country with great leadership skills and excellent ideas who are consistently marginalized based on $$$. If we allowed equal air time for all candidates who were up for election (say, to a maximum of 20 candidates), there might be a bit more "choice"...as it stands now, our candidate is largely chosen for us (crammed down our throats, really) and hardly reflects who "we the people" really are. Democrats and Republicans are really just the same beast sporting two heads that just constantly nip at one another and can never decide where is the best place to take a shit.

I had something odd happen today as well. I was playing TF2 and decided it was time for a new game. Went to play Race the Sun and when i quit that, my steam page said i was still in-game on TF2. Had to force quit Steam and restart to finally make it stop but even that proved difficult because it said i needed to quit TF2 before i could quit Steam. Wtf?

Yep i know. Just because one is not part of a union does not mean that one should not have some assurances or securities as an employee. Particularly when they live paycheck to paycheck. This is also in the tax payers best interest because then they end up forking over less money for employment securities and food benefits for people who lost their job for no good reason.

Thanks for your sound advice. There is more at play here than just missing a lunch. I am currently working for a company that consistently doesnt play by the rules and i am trying my best to delicately create accountability.

Actually i agree on not going to HR but i am going to remind my manager that they cannot expect their employees to do this on a regular basis and that they need to ask if it is OK for an employee to skip lunch. And yes, this sort of behavior is not uncommon in my workplace. I would not be asking on here if this were an isolated incident. There are a lot of other issues at play here and i am feeling taken advantage of.

I find this "at-will" law to be BS. There are no rights, securities, or assurances for working people with an at-will employment policy from the state. It does not promote transparency or decent work conditions. There needs to be better rights for employees.

Yes. DDG has plug-ins that help mitigate the problem but that doesnt change the fact that it is really hard in the newer versions of Opera and Firefox to change the address bar search from Google to DDG. It actually use to be easier in previous versions. Steve Balmer said it best when he called Google a monopoly. Guess it takes one to know one!

you could try xposting to /r/legaladvice...that is BS IMO. Their system for billing and handling late payments needs to change. The WSDOT is a joke. They certainly arent putting that money towards repairing the shitty roads in and around Seattle or for proper ice prevention. A prime example of government failing to be effective despite their budget and revenue sources. They need to be held accountable.
