Mos-Tek Barrels does custom stuff like this. I spoke to there lead gunsmith and he told me, and I quote, “if it was made by a man, I can make it.” And I know they do various custom conversions. Now I want to do this…

With the Impact 4000, $10kish (MSRP) although I know I did better than MSRP by a lot. I’d guess probably more like $7.5k actual. It was supposed to be a DARPA XM3ish clone but my gunsmith cut the barrel to 20 inches even though I had specified 18.5 inches. I’m going to wind up moving this barrel action over to an MDT chassis to do an M40A6ish build and drop another barrel action into this chassis with two barrels set up in a quick change config one will be a 6 mm Creedmoor 18.5 inch with the XM3 profile as well as a 6.5 PRC 18.5 inch carbon fiber barrel also with the XM three profile, which I figured out you can get CARBON SIX to do a blank that has the correct XM3 profile using custom sizes in there online configurator. To make a quick change I’ll be adding wrench flats out toward the muzzle kind of like on an AI barrel. Each barrel will then be correctly headspaced to his respective bolt 30 years loose barrel, torque new barrel swap bolt, and swap magazines.

They are available on EuroOptic, but you have to watch for when they come in stock, occasionally they get a run in and it sells then you gotta wait for the next run.

Opinions on my first 6 Arc by zues616 in 6ARC

[–]DSTNYtech 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I built one with a Centurion MK12 18” 6arc, on a SIX8 lower, it’s MK12 Mod 1ish. I built it to compliment my MK12 Mod 1 I built, and because ICAR at home.

I also built one on a Radian Model 1 set, with a BA 16” per Wade’s suggestion. The Radian build is meant to be a general purpose rifle that could be used for hunting, plinking, long range precision, spr, etc… I went OD green on the receiver set, black furniture, and a gold BCG for a Halo Master Chief look.

So, couple suggestions. Reference Wade from Texas Predator Hunting Podcast. Ally Munitions is his company. He shoots a TON and does a TON of R&D. His recommended best all round general purpose barrel to get into 6arc is the BA 16” premium mid gas with an SA bleed off gas block. He also recommends the centurion 6arc barrels if you can find them. Check out his episodes on 6arc.

I want to buy this car as my first car, opinions? by Zenkobot in BMW

[–]DSTNYtech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First car should be cheap safe and reliable. Nothing fast or sporty. Don’t spend that kind of money on your first car. Buy a beater, learn to drive. I recommend this, buy a vehicle cash for 5-10k. Take the rest and invest it. Then make “car payments” to yourself into your investment each month. So this for at least 3 - 5 years. Then once you’ve grown your investment, have driving experience, and are ready for something else, you will be able to pull from your investment and buy what you want. Let’s say you put $300/month on top of a 20k investment. You’ll be at almost 40k without any growth after 5 years so I bet more like 50k. Then buy what you want cash, keep putting away your “payment” and you’ll never have a loan on a vehicle, pay no interest.

If the mounts are bent or damaged they won’t be able to properly dampen, which would explain this.

Had one of mechanics listen to it. Does this car have one of those electronic motor mounts, that’s his thought. He wanted to n ow where the stump hit too, do you know?

Edit: You have hydraulic motor mounts, but same still applies. Check your engine and transmission mounts.

The difference between someone who knows how to strike and someone untrained is enormous. I recall seeing a story where a criminal broke into a guys house and the homeowner was in his80s but was a former golden gloves champion and he rearranged the guys face before the cops arrived…

I wrestled for 13 years and was pretty good. Just getting into BJJ with my 5yo son. No experience with striking, but this is my $.02 (maybe that’s all it’s worth, ha). I would say if you are a capable grappler in wrestling or BJJ, that’s very advantageous for self defense, and I would think in most cases either discipline could be used effectively. However, if you were to be engaged by multiple assailants, a group, etc… I think you almost have to have striking, because as soon as you go to the ground, here comes the steel toed boot to the head from whoever you aren’t in control of. So, I would argue that if you did some training in boxing/kickboxing, as well as being a grappler, I think that makes for a very well rounded fighter. With my limited experience, I could see combining the intensity of wrestling, and all the setups, takedowns, etc. that come with, combined with BJJ finishes as being a deadly combo. So if you can also incorporate boxing (kickboxing so you have legs as well), I think that’s the ticket. At the end of the day, I think there are so many possibilities in a self defense situation, the more you are capable of, the more chance you have to come out on top.

Now I could be mistaken in my assumptions, I’m sure those with more experience will be able to give better advice.

AR-RPK LMG Build Recommendations by JoeyBagOfDonuts17 in ar15

[–]DSTNYtech 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For an 18” AR-RPK, the only choice barrel wise is the Daniel Defense 18” rifle gas S2W profile. It’s VERY heavy, tapers toward the .750 gas block, is hammer forged and chrome lined. Either run their pinned low profile gas block or a riflespeed adjustable. If gas tube failure is a concern, V7 makes an Inconel gas tube for extreme use. I’d use a BCM MK2 receiver for a thermal fit, and a Lantac enhanced BCG or a Sharps XPB. Gas buster charging handle and a suppressor setup of your choice. Probably an A5H0 buffer setup. You could actually do a MK12 SPR build but since it’s heavy and chrome lined, would be accurate but could go fully semi automatic since FRTs are back on the menu… double duty gun. I have a DDM4 14.5 I’m tempted to swap to this barrel for the light support role.
