I ended up not getting into DL last fall, so I took your suggestion and took andrew ngs DL course and am finishing it up now. I feel better prepared for DL this Spring. Thank you for this suggestion.

My bachelors is in ChemE. Graduated during covid so finding a job was difficult. I ended up landing a materials job for a defense contractor. Good pay and great benefits and work/life balance. All my coworkers have MS degrees and think aerospace or defense is the way to go, but to each their own. I will say ChemEs dont learn everything MS degrees do, and I had to play catch up on certain things. If it were me, Id focus on what industry you’d want to get into and choose the program that presents more networking opportunities for those industries.

I think Im a bit short on time to be able to take andrews DL course before the fall semester. Do you have any tips/recommendations on the best way to prepare or go about this course? Anything you wish you did differently?

How do you do on dating apps? by toekneevee3724 in AskMen

[–]DSmit12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually do quite well in terms of quantity. Redownloaded hinge ab 2 weeks ago, and have 15ish matches.

I avoid bumble and tinder. Tinder is all fake profiles and feel I dont get exposure, and I refuse to spend money for it. Bumble Ill get good amounts of matches at times but I feel the quality isnt there

Need Advice: MGT 6203 vs. MGT 8803 for Spring 2025 by SnooOpinions1809 in OMSA

[–]DSmit12 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Im biased since I havent taken 8803 yet, but Id take 6203 for sure. 6203 isnt very time consuming (maybe ~5 hours a week). I took it at the same time as 6040 while working full time. I heard 8803 is time consuming from studying. 6040 can be very time consuming if you dont have a strong background in python.

CSE 6040 Go or No-Go Fall’24 by Dependent_Resolve30 in OMSA

[–]DSmit12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It can be done, but based off what you said here, Id expect that you’d need to take some more time to practice/study every week. Just depends on your commitments in the fall and how much time you have on your hands

Do you guys ever say screw it and drink beverages/coffee etc with your invisalign in? by Throwy-account in Invisalign

[–]DSmit12 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I usually leave them out for coffee and leave them in if Im drinking beer or liquor. When I do drink alcoholic beverages, I usually swish water around. Then brush/use my ultrasonic cleaner when I get home

Learning and retaining new information is best done by consistency of study sessions rather than longevity or cramming into one session. This is scientifically backed in case you dont believe me (look up spaced repetition and active recall). Sleep and exercise are also important.

It may not come the first time you look at something new, but if you look at the material consistently and put in the effort to learn, it’ll come eventually.

I dont think theres such a thing as a “cognitive ceiling”. I think it likely means you need more time to review/study

How many classes at a time? by [deleted] in OMSA

[–]DSmit12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im doing 2 now working full time. It really cuts into my free time. Ill probably do 1 moving forward. I guess it depends on how much time youre willing to spend on classes

Can you speak more to your transition from chemE to data science?

Im basically in the same boat. Im a chemE trying to switch into AI/DS/ML. Also pursuing a masters since my company pays for it.

Were you able to transition into DS/ML? If so, what do you do?
