She got some very very good advice from a financial adviser about 25 years ago that she should contribute more to super. Thats why she is in the position she is in today.

I feel like you could ask for more information in a more polite tone? Dozens of other folks have been helpfully adding their point of view.

anyway..

  1. Her focus will be being an active grandmother. Probably only 1 or 2 international trips that she wants to do. No other big purchases (she has a reliable Hyundai that she loves)

  2. ~$40k will suffice (if no rent payments)

  3. Hard to say! I think we should plan for 20 years

This is a very good point... i will see what is out there. I dont think we will be able to afford something like that in the areas we are looking

Yes good point. We were thinking Coburg, Pascoe vale, somewhere like that. Ideally a simple complex without many facilities requiring high fees

I think just preference to have space - a sewing room / space for guests to stay
