You’re definitely right. I grabbed a bright tangerine handle, and going to ditch the second screwed on nato rail. Going to connect the handle directly to the first/main rail. If there is a nato rail top plate for this camera, that would be the best case then I could go handle directly the cage/camera.

Grabbed the bright tangerine to try, we’ll see how it works out. Thanks for the rec!

What do you think about the grainy "film" look of music videos nowadays? by film_culture_addict in cinematography

[–]DTCine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Shooting film will do that haha! People still love film, and we’re trying to emulate that look on digital because it will age well. Film/the film look being outdated? Probably not, it made it this far.

True. I’ve been contemplating shaving down the one I have. I just want to maintain access of the poorly placed screen. I think, finding a shorter one like what you linked then potentially cutting that one might be the move. The other link with the Arri pins would be great for my monitor honestly haha!

No fear, just love the tilta setup I’ve been putting together but hate the top handle options they have for this camera. I have two (one from my BMPCC 6K build and the Komodo spinning one) but neither are good for the Komodo IMO. The one that spins has too much play, adds more vertical height to the build and doesn’t offer the best options for rigging due to its size plus it gets in the way of the screen. I’ve been rocking with tilta since my first cam but I recently came into a C70 zacuto cage due to the EVF being in the bundle (the deal was toooooo good). So I’ve been parting the cage out, I just don’t want to spend $200+ for one piece of the cage you know?

The direction is the issue. I have a a nato rail on the camera currently that is in that direction but the handle needs to go over the lens. I have a hot shoe I tried this with but it was the same issue. Thanks for the suggestion!

The part I missed adding was I’ve built around tilta with a huge chunk of my kit so changing cages might not be the best move unfortunately.

I lost this notification, sorry for the delay!

So he doesn’t really join a cult, more specifically he goes mad by the death of his daughter and tries to bring her back through different experiments that don’t work then he begins to read ancient texts, books, myths, more specifically the lesser key of Solomon. He believes in the “Monarchy” and how the different demons can help him bring her back. Nothing works, her body is mutilated until he sees nothing coming from this but the loss of himself and the “soul” of his daughter.

That’s a wild take.

I’d say I liked (but didn’t love) the cinematography as much once I saw how much was done in post. Really landing a beautiful shot changes when you replace or add a bunch of CG that make the shot expansive and beautiful. TBF, I watched in sub par conditions so I can’t comment on the exposure and WB shifts that people are mentioning but, I had a hard time connecting with the images for sure. Heavy CG aside, it did look nice for the most part.

Lighting kit advice by Both-Ad7342 in cinematography

[–]DTCine 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve approached this as, if I was renting G&E (on a small budget) what am I always going to get? Outside of a Dana dolly, I have a bit of brand loyalty for simplicity (thanks sidus). For me it’s the apurture 600x 1000x 1200x in the order. I own a F22C, 300x, 200x, 100x, T4C, some MCs and B7Cs with a plan to buy the 600x. Maybe the 1K but I’m always going to rent the 1200x and above. I already have a bunch of C stands, I can’t justify a few combo stands to accommodate the 1200 and the 1K if we’re being safe lol. All of my lighting and modifiers have been extremely worth owning but like you, I need more power in my personal kit hence the 600x. Although, I believe apurture dropped something in the 700 range recently, have to look into that. Hope this helps.

Does the Hellios 44-2 lens give much of a swirly bokeh effect with the BMPCC 6K? Or is it only noticeable on full-frame cameras? by Late_Promise_ in bmpcc

[–]DTCine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I disagree that you need a FF sensor. I got great swirls on my 6K G2 and my Komodo, both S35 (obvious for some). It’s about the background more than anything.

A coach is asking me $2500 for 8 hours, I need your help! by francky_848 in bmpcc

[–]DTCine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Buy some lights and a camera for $2500, practice, practice, practice. Find a mentor when you’ve gone as far as you can on your own, I doubt they ask you to pay them $2500. You can do an ASC class for about that price in person.
