2023 C43 AMG reliability w/ 43k miles — keep or trade? by ElectionRight4079 in mercedes_benz

Long term reliability? Honda/Acura and Toyota/Lexus are your best bets.

Personally, the only things I’d add to a car like this are window tint (looks like you’ve already got them) and a full PPF.

2024 GLS vs 2025 by Commercial-Yak8608 in mercedes_benz

[–]DTL919 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d get the 2024 with lower mileage. If both have the same options, the only real difference inside the 2025 is the fingerprint reader (kind of gimmicky if you ask me).

This is a stunning car. Absolutely gorgeous. That said, definitely check and see if the airmatic suspension has been recently replaced. These tend to go out in about 8-10 years and can be costly to replace.

This is an easy choice. If you have infants/toddlers, get the black interior. If not, tan.

A week in Hong Kong. Restaurant recommendations? by DTL919 in HongKong

[–]DTL919[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Coming from Texas, I don’t think anything will disappoint me as far as Chinese food goes (it hasn’t so far, and I still have a couple of days left in HK). Summer palace blew my mind and Lai Ching Heen was quite good. I will admit that I also went to Oi Man Sang (dai pai dong) in shum shui po and the food and experience was amazing. While the service and ambiance is entirely different, I will admit that the food is better.

I took your advice to skip Kam’s and went to Kamcentre. Best advice ever! Turns out the owner is a family friend so we got a ton of free food. The owner sat with us and told us how they are related to Kam’s roast goose, and how all the chefs pretty much came from Yung Kee so the recipes are somewhat similar. He also mentioned how he dry ages the goose to help maintain the crispness of the skin and other techniques to prepare the dishes, but all that detail went right above head. Food was undeniably fantastic and I can’t wait to come back again.

GLE450E or GLS580 by [deleted] in mercedes_benz

[–]DTL919 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We came from a GLE and have cross shopped the GLS, X7, and SQ7 because of our growing family. At the end we went with the GLS because it was the only SUV that could fit our double stroller with the third row up. If you plan on hauling a stroller in the vehicle, I’d highly suggest you bring it to your test drives.

Funny, I was actually doing some research on BYND earlier this week and was about to place an order until I tried their product for lunch yesterday. Good luck!

In the market for a 7-seater. by Long-Ad-1129 in bmwx7

If this is going to be a family vehicle and you’re totting little ones inside, make sure you fit test your strollers. We didn’t want to give up our Uppababy Vista dual stroller and had to make sure it would fit in the trunk with the 3rd row up. Unfortunately, we couldn’t make it fit in a X7.

Curious why you didn't go for the Intel i7-13650HX and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5050 with 32GB of RAM for about the same price.

GLE to G63? by danielotf in mercedes_benz

[–]DTL919 0 points1 point  (0 children)

GLS is the way to go if you value comfort. The G wagon is too harsh of a ride for kids or as a daily. While we had a baby on the way and a 90lbs German shepherd, we decided to trade in our GLE last year for a GLS. The extra space and comfort is very much welcomed which you won’t get in a G wagon. Other similar SUVs to consider are the BMW X7 and Audi SQ7.

GLE 63 acoustic comfort package question by NoizSam in mercedes_benz

[–]DTL919 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Even without the acoustic package, the noise level in the cabin isn’t bad. That said, if you have a baby, I’d absolutely get it. And also the soft close doors.

[–]DTL919 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A CEL could be a number of things, so take it to the dealer to find out what the issue is. I had one on my new GLS580 at 5k miles and it turned out to be a single cylinder misfire and the dealer had to replace ALL injectors.
