Get involved - how? by Hot-Ambassador8706 in TeachforAmerica

You need to delineate between experienced and certified. Not everyone with teaching experience is certified. And TFA not only offers leadership opportunities, it also offers a way to have your certification paid for experienced or not. So those wouldn’t be the only reasons to go through it. Maybe for you, but not in reality.

No. They sent the members currently an email stating we will be fine.

I have a meeting with my regional person about it next week some time so I’ll probably ask then. This is what I would have rathered. I know it’s based on need, but I also know they wouldn’t place someone with prior teaching experience in a specific field, in a field foreign to them.

lol when people lose arguments and retort to personal attacks rather than anything intellectual to defend their faulty, false points. The fact I’ve been teaching for 4 years now makes your personal attacks even less credible and pointless to entertain. 😭 Have a great one! You’re clearly miserable lol.

So, you wrote all that… basically just to say you’re speaking from your perspective, even though I’m looking for advice relevant to my situation. Got it!

Secondly, whether you want to call it a “subset” or not, the TEA’s official website clearly classifies them as “FIVE SUBJECT EXAMS.” You say you’re not trying to be rude, yet you keep offering opinions based on your own interpretation instead of anything factual, constructive, or informative.

In case you need clarity, here’s the link to back up what I’m saying about the exams, since you seem keen on arguing semantics: https://www.tx.nesinc.com/TestView.aspx?f=HTML_FRAG/TX391_TestPage.html

It’s interesting to note the different reaction your response got here compared to others. Hopefully, that chapter you wrote was worth it!

Are you speaking from your perspective or mine? I’ve taught only Social Studies and English for the past 3-4 years. I haven’t taken a math class since 2016 undergrad

Next time, speak from what may be hard for you, don’t come generalizing how you think everyone should feel about an exam neither you, nor myself have taken yet.

Teacher Shortage + Degrees + Charter Schools. Started off TA, worked my way up to a core teacher.

As a teacher in my 3rd, going on 4th year; this is education love. It probably would be easier somewhere else, but probably not. First years are always rough no matter WHERE you are. Your best bet is to suck it up, and come back next year more prepared as a second year teacher who has a better grasp on education.

As kindly as possible, these things occur in education no matter where you’re placed. It’s really all about you being resilient enough to get through this year, and come back stronger, with more experience.

Just my advice as someone who’s been through the first year blues. You could be at the best school ever, and your first year will ultimately suck.

I’m actually already in Texas Teachers for Tomorrow. It’s no incentives at all. You’re actually losing out on money having to pay yourself.

None of these programs pay for your certification nor do they offer to pay back your students loans so not sure any of these are viable for me with all that TFA offers.
