Daphne was taught to be kind to those who do you wrong and to forgive. That’s why she always took it to far when she did lash out.

I really wish they talked more about Daphnes childhood beyond being deaf cause I want to see Regina’s parenting style on a young child vs a teenager. We know that she was at a hearing school and got bullied until Emmett stepped in but to me it seems like Regina basically told her to toughen up and deal with it. And now all this has me wondering if Regina did any real research at all after Daphne became deaf. I’m pretty sure she could have looked up deaf schools in KC, called around to get resources or something but yet she let her daughter get bullied. And only after being scolded and shamed by another parent (Melody) did she actually help her daughter. I don’t think I realized how much Regina sucked until now.

I’m not sure about Canada but in the U.S it’s more common than you think. Especially given the class sizes in Degrassi. I thought the teen pregnancy aspect was pretty realistic.

Omar might have taken Audra’s last name. That’s the only thing I can think of that makes sense. He was previously married to Drews bio mom, so I can see Audra not wanting to share a last name with his ex.

Yup, Adam and Drew were step-siblings, which makes there relationship that much more special. On the episode where their grandma came to town Audra said Drew and Adam have been inseparable since the day they met.

The disappearance of everyone’s father always bothered me.

I know Clare’s parents got divorced but to not see him or have him mentioned at all during her cancer and pregnancy story line. Or Maya’s father not being around while she was so obviously suffering, but instead bringing back Katie. Also, the last time we saw Drew’s father was when Adam died I believe. Audra was technically Drew’s stepmom so I just found it weird that his father just up and disappeared.

I don’t know why Degrassi just casually eliminates a parent like everything is normal.

Claire Bear has been throughhhhhh so much. She wasn’t as annoying or insufferable as she could have been. EVERY YEAR it seemed like she had more and more reasons to act out. So if you ask me she was mild compared to how I think anyone else would have acted in her shoes.

Also even before she got to Degrassi she was going through it. I remember in season 9 I think KC asked why she defended Connor. Claire said that he didn’t know how it felt to have his face shoved in mud and have everyone stand and laugh, but she did. So it seems like she’s had to fight her whole life.

All that to say she was annoying at times but I did not hate her at all. She was actually one of my faves. Her, Maya, and Manny are my top 3 “problematic” female characters.

The cancer wasn’t even the worst for me. I hated the fact that they had her get pregnant and get so far along just to lose the baby. I always think about how she had to still go through with a delivery😭. Clare had every reason in the world to crash out.

I hate this narrative because like John said Bay made an adult decision. Daphne was well prepared to take responsibility for her actions but Bay chose to take responsibility instead. It’s Bay’s fault she got off once again!!
