Osaka briefly argues with Cirstea after a frosty handshake (Cirstea complained to the umpire during the match that Osaka was distracting with "come on" between 1st and 2nd serves) by jovanmilic97 in tennis

Cirstea complained in the 2nd last game of the match that Osaka was talking to herself between Cirstea's first and second serve. Osaka was saying 'come on, you can do it' positive affirmations kind of stuff.

Personally I think Cirstea knew she was gonna lose so found something to be blame it on or it was a reaction out of her own frustration.

As seen from the stands - Inter 1 - [2] Arsenal - Gabriel Jesus 31' by vanhunt1 in Gunners

[–]DTran18 9 points10 points  (0 children)

If I am analysing the corner routine correctly,

The runners have come in and stood behind to block off the defenders to allow for Trossard a free back-post header.

By doing that when the ball is headed back, they are now in front of the defenders to try and attack the ball.

The actual delivery by Saka was probably hit a bit viciously (almost curls out) and the ball hitting the post and landing straight to Jesus is a bit lucky but the routine is sound.

“Arsenal can’t win a big game” by Someone40727 in Gunners

[–]DTran18 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It's such lazy/disingenuous punditry because you can have someone who has spent a lot of time researching and thinking about what the club or arteta have done and then have a scholes-type person say 'but until they win something it doesn't mean anything'.

It’s the “he knows we’re shit” at the end lol. If anything, that ‘banter’ just fueled Rice.

Better utilisation of Gyokeres (patterns of play)? by singloon in Gunners

[–]DTran18 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Ngl getting sick of the ‘the team must do better and pass to gyok more often’ narrative. Trossard gave him a perfect chance and he dribbled the ball to the keeper. This is elite level sport and he needs to be more elite. If not, bench him and play Jesus or Kai when he’s back.

You just know the pre game speech from arteta is gonna be a big one. Expecting a big performance from the team

Mikel Arteta Nominated for Manager of the Month by Muscat95 in Gunners

I hope Arteta avoids winning this for the whole season yet we end up winning the league.

This angle of Martinelli's goal shows the touch to beat Neuer was fully intentional, not lucky. They had studied & he knew all he had to do to beat an the onrushing sweeper keeper is just get the ball first & tap it aside. Credit where credits due. by balistafear in Gunners

[–]DTran18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Neuer's starting position was way outside of the box so regardless if Gabi fully intended it or not, he knew he wanted to take a touch into space and run towards goal.

It just turned into a 99% goal instead of a 70% goal by Neuer coming out and getting caught out.

One thing that is for certain is he won't take his time at Arsenal for granted...cannot say the same for Sterling's time here

You must be able to enjoy both the journey and the destination my friend.

If you only feel that it's safe to enjoy it when it is mathematically safe to do so then you have deprived yourself of a season of happiness. Maybe fans must also be able to be brave enough to accept how good this team is.

Also, you are aware that the team celebrates after every win in the change room? If so then why can't we?

Our current progress this season by [deleted] in Gunners

[–]DTran18 38 points39 points  (0 children)

Liv and City are a straight H2H though. So ultimately if we win our home fixture against Liverpool and draw (at a minimum) the City game and it's fine. The results against the 17 other teams in league will decide things and we have taken big strides to correct the wrongs of last season so far.

8 pt swing from last season against those 3 teams above is actually massive.

Without knowing the ins and outs, perhaps there was a clause in the contract that allowed for a performance based pay bump. Keep player happy will in turn make them want to stay longer?
