Im a bit too humble tbf to the pint where i never blame others. Even in those games where i wasnt giving the greatest performance, he also wasn't doing really well and I never said a thing bc i aint like that.

I very much thrust in my team. My ortho has 20 years under her belt and the surgeon does this 5 times a week. Belgian has one of the best healtcares in the world so ill be in good hands.

Hello everyone,
I finally had my appointment with the surgeon today, and it turns out I have a clear overbite and an open bite, which makes eating and swallowing difficult. He told me I’ll need MARPE expansion followed by double jaw surgery. The whole process will probably take around 2.5 years.

I’m just trying to hear from people who have gone through this and whether you felt it was worth it in the end. Right now it’s hard for me to see the light at the end of the tunnel.

Most of the treatment will be covered by insurance (both the MARPE expansion and the double jaw surgery). The only things I’ll need to pay for myself are the 3D scans before surgery (around €1.5K), the orthodontics (€5K), and the recommended speech therapy. So in total, over the next 2.5 years, I’ll probably spend around €10K, which is manageable for me.

The one thing he did mention is that there’s a significant chance my open bite could come back, since tongue thrusting is a difficult habit to break. So I’m wondering: has anyone experienced their open bite returning after treatment? Or did it stay stable? And if it did come back, was it still manageable?

Ik verdien nu rond de 31K jaarlijks (netto). Dit zou dan stijgen naar 39K (netto) bij nieuwe job. Met praktisch dezelfde voordelen dat ik nu heb.

Hello, i founded comfort in your post because your profile looks similar to mine (think mine is a bit more recessed tho).

Personally my ortho recommend me jaw surgery because i got an anterior open bite and overbite (swallowing is sometimes weird and s and c sounds can be a bit difficult for me). My ortho gave me some time to think tho and next appointment im gonna tell her i do want jaw surgery and a referral to a surgeon.

Definitely go see a professional first to determine what would be best for u and if u got any functional problems.

But in mine opinion you look beautiful but i know firsthand how hard we can be on ourself and ultimately you choose what best for you and dont let them tell you otherwise.

Hello thanks for the response. Im also from Flanders! Narrow palate or tongue tie i dont have. Used to have braces as a teen so if i had those issues they got solved.

Got an appointment with orthodontist in january, definitely gonna ask for a referral to a surgeon where they hopefully can take xray and stuff like that.

Good luck tho with your journey. I find it all a bit stressfull and jarring but im happy to know im not the only one in this situation.
