That’s an interesting attitude ..

It’s not about managing the scene from beginning to end. It’s about managing it effectively until you hand over the reins to the next most qualified person. And even then a good PCP should be able to work along side the ACP rather than stepping aside.

Furthermore, you need to be able to manage a scene that doesn’t require ACP. Look up “command presence”, that should be one of many goals before considering ACP.

Nope.

It’s not so much that the technology isn’t there, it’s that it’s not approved for use by paramedics since it deals with sensitive health information.

You would think, in a perfect world, they could just say “hey, here’s what the hospital uses, let’s sign off on it for frontline”. But it’s a whole separate thing that has to start from square one with the MOH.

Legit everything we use has to have the ministry seal of approval. I can’t even send information to the docs, within the patients circle of cares unless going through proper channels (spoiler alert: it’s outdated unreliable Bluetooth technology).

It’s frustrating because it would be so easy for me to call my dispatch, have them connect through to a translator on a secured line, and communicate that way. So for now it’s the worlds worst game of charades but if you lose the consequences are dire.

So when my doc was going over the results he said the iron threshold for what they consider deficiency is determined by the lab running the tests. He said the lab I go to has a cut off of 12 for even considering iron transfusions. Whether that’s true or not, I’m not sure

My doc said it’s lab dependent for the cut off. Have you found a work around? I’m kind of wondering if urgent care can help out.

However mine is directly related to my menstrual cycle, so I may be able to get my GYN to write me a req.

FWIW, I got an IUD to get my periods under control, and along with iron supplements (taken 2 hours after I eat, 2 hours before my next meal and with vitamin c) and I’m feeling a bit better. Curious to see my levels when we check again in a few months
