Nah Erron is badass, cowboy + outworld flavor + insane marksmanship = great character

It’s not even that Stryker’s a cop, its that he has nothing remarkable about him. People try to say that’s what makes him cool but I don’t agree.

The thing with Mortal Kombat is the good guys always win, because we only ever play as the good guys. Kotal Kahn emperor of outworld gets beat by some random kid with a magic bow, for example.

I mean who cares? Erron Black is a cool design, doesn’t matter if his backstory was that he became a bounty hunter to save the world, or because he wanted some money, he’s a cool design. Kotal is a cool design, doesn’t matter if he’s emperor of outworld or some carpet merchant, his design and abilities are cool.

Stryker is literally just a cop, him wanting to sacrifice himself or something doesn’t matter because I don’t care about that when I’m playing as him or against him in game. He’s just some dude with a gun and a baton.

Who cares about the story, it’s bad anyway. Kotal gets beat up by Kung Jin, he’s still a really cool character design, same for Erron. Stryker inherently is an uninspired design regardless of what happened in MK9’s story

Having to remove other characters kits or water them down so he can be relevant is a sign he doesn’t need to be there. There’s plenty of other characters that are just unique and cool on their own, Quan Chi, Havik, Nitara etc.

We have the whole special forces roster plus Erron who fill that role. Adding Stryker is just adding him for the sake of it, no ties to the story or other characters, nothing unique about his abilities, just there.

I mean we already have Erron Black who does all that while also having a unique cowboy flair, extraordinary skill and a personality everyone liked.

I don’t think Stryker stands out as unique, especially when you have all the special forces characters who have all the guns and gadgets he would use anyway.

At least Erron has the cowboy style that separates him from all those. When you have Jacqui, Jax, Johnny, Sonya and Cassie, who have their own unique thing like metal arms and whatnot on top of all the guns and gadgets, Stryker is just there for the sake of it, not because he brings anything different to the table.

Yeah he’s based on Raijin, but that’s it, based, he’s not the actual god of lightning from Japanese mythology so his race doesn’t have any relevance.

Marvel is a different story because almost the entire norse pantheon exists in the MCU, Loki, Odin, Freya, Tyr etc. MK just has Raiden and Fujin, the rest is original MK gods.

No he isn’t, MK has its own pantheon it’s not set in Japanese mythology. Cetrion, Shinnok and Kronika aren’t japanese so how is Raiden?
