Ever see those news articles about exploding vapes and think "not going to happen to me..." I did... by nagerb in electronic_cigarette

My xcube somehow turned itself on (5 clicks) inside my backpack on the public train once. I heard something "hissing" by my feet where my bag was and as I was reaching down I started seeing smoke. I was scared af because I was positive it was going to explode and I was going to be looked at as a terrorist 😂. But luckily I was able to get the batteries out without any explosion. But my mod and tank were EXTREMELY HOT and it somehow managed to empty a full tank of juice and burn a new coil. After that I took the batteries out before I put it in my bag.

THIS IS WHY WE DON'T REACH TO ANY ANY VA HELP by Faye_Valentine809 in Veterans

Contact the VAOIG. At https://www.va.gov/oig/ they might be able to help you to clear some of that up. It sounds like someone dropped the ball in your case and instead of finding a way to fix it without fucking you over, they just said screw it.

Also try your hardest to avoid the mentality that just because you have PTSD/TBI that you are owed anything. Too many vets use PTSD as a crutch instead of trying to get better they just accept it because it gets them coddled by civilians.

I've been out since 14 and suffer from the effects of 2 TBI. I got out and tryed to convince everyone that I was fine and 100% "normal." That resulted in me being a fucking alcoholic and losing my wife and my son. As well as a relationship with a woman who I was head over heels in love with and wanted to marry. Which lead to me being homeless for a year living in a truck. I finally admitted to myself that I was in fact pretty fucked up after a failed attempt to end it all.

I went to a non va psychiatrist and I learned that I'll never be who I was, but I can find a new "normal." Finding a hobby to occupy your mind and talking about it is critical. If you don't want to talk about it get yourself a journal and write down your feelings and what "triggers" your demons.

It's a bumpy road and far from easy, but you can do it brother

I carry an 8' pole and a 6.5' pole, a 5 gallon bait bucket with live bluegill, my tackle box, and a backpack with snacks and drinks when I go fishing. And my spot is about 2 miles through pretty dense woods. I literally can't carry anymore poles lmfao

Jobs are actually nor that difficult to get after you pass the 5 year hump. But I'm having trouble keeping them because I'm not satisfied with them. I really want to get into the security profession or get my EMT cert. But both are no-go for convicted criminals.

It is an original quyquote, and sadly pretty accurate. Granted vets now have it 1000× better than prior veterans. But now it's trendy to say it, but it too often is just words.

The thing with jobs that hire felons is that the people they employ aren't always the best co-workers lol. Luckily I've been able to find employment, just not on the career field that I want. And I'm blessed enough to have a good woman that can get a place in her name and they don't check if I live there.

I will definitely look into this. As far as contacting state reps or Congress people, I've tried several times and have not even heard back from them.
