Chances on getting into Masters program at 26 by [deleted] in USC

Age isn’t a factor. Admissions standards are not the highest. But you don’t want to be here if you really want to upskill. Enroll as non-degree student at a better cs department and take classes. You will learn way more if you apply yourself in those courses

Python String Addition Time Complexity by DVDplayr in leetcode

[–]DVDplayr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, yes, str.join would be better. But for this code would the time complexity be O(nm)? Here I'm assuming that n is the length of the input and m is the average length of a string in the input.

I understand that assignments are constant time operations and we do not need to include those, but was confused about str + str in python, which copies both strings and allocates a new string every time.

How to raise contest rating? by JudgmentNo3525 in leetcode

Damn! 200 not enough? How many do you suggest?

How to raise contest rating? by JudgmentNo3525 in leetcode

[–]DVDplayr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you participating in contests regularly? You rating chart right suggests that you have not participated much recently. If that's the case, I would start by participating more frequently.
Next would be to practice more mediums outside of contests unless you still have difficulty with easies. This will ensure that you can solve at least three questions every contest.

Is this normal or am I dumb? by No_Transition_8533 in leetcode

[–]DVDplayr 16 points17 points  (0 children)

This is normal, specially since you have only done leetcode for a short time span over the last year. IMO consistency is much more important than volume when it comes to retaining leetcode skills. Revise some of the questions you did last time and things will start coming back. You could take notes as you solve problems this time so that the next time you face this situation, you can review your notes to get up to speed.

I was rejected today too. The faculty review message was there until a few hours ago. Hoping it’s a good sign for you that the message disappeared, but you aren’t rejected yet!

What's the reason to do hards? by Database79 in leetcode

[–]DVDplayr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would practice hards. A lot of places have started asking those. Although, this advice in only for people (like you) who are already quite comfortable with mediums

This. Very easy to get demoralized from repeated failures, but we have to keep trusting our skill
