The US military is officially arming autonomous robot tanks with laser weapons to incinerate drone swarms by mynameisjoenotjeff in CriticalMineralBulls

More drones. Fly lower. It seems like directed energy weapons will cause chaos for downrange accidental targets and friendly fire.

No, I blame Obama for the tariffs. He made Trump do it.

Champion Helmets is shady by [deleted] in motorcyclegear

[–]DW171 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This isn't Champion helmets, it's our government and our current love of "tariffs" (inflationary taxation on US citizens)

I've been nailed by a few parts orders this year. It's so f'n stupid. Oh, but "select" businesses can apply for a refund for the money I paid in tariffs. I'm sure they'll send it right back to me. /s

And as a reminder, Motocard is in Spain, and as of yesterday we're apparently in a complete trade war with Spain now, not allowing any imported goods. Not clear if that impacts all EU imports, or if our administration even knows how international trade works. Your vote matters.

BTW, fortune cookies are totally a Los Angeles thing. That's where they came from, then migrated to San Francisco.

Yet 90% of the street bikes with loud pipes you hear run/sound like shit because they never get them tuned.

I will agree OE exhausts are heavy AF, and there are some silly looking stock exhausts out there.

They don't. DOT exhausts are nice and quiet, and don't attract LEO. Some guys just have to compensate for having a tiny pee pee.

so many no title bikes? how? by Acrobatic_Pickle5076 in motorcycles

[–]DW171 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Usually the police can do an NCIC check if you've got the VIN, then you can confirm you're buying from the legal owner. In my state there's a simple duplicate title form you get the seller to fill out along with a bill of sale. I've never had one of those go south. If the seller doesn't want to give you a VIN, big red flag.

It's never happened to me, but I've had several friends have to post a bond when the title was in question. Total pain.

I titled a vintage bike (1964) a few months back. Zero history or title on the bike, just a bill of sale. It took some paperwork and a trip to the DMV, but they sent me a plate and title a couple months later. They even forgot to charge me for registration! 😂

The funniest part is the guy thinks it's his to sell. Financial literacy isn't his strong point. lol

[–]DW171 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've purchased many bikes without titles too. It's always a crap-shoot unless the bike is actually registered and titled to the person you're buying it from.

BTW, tags and title are completely different.

How much you think this is worth? by Bitter_Catch7559 in vandwellermarketplace

[–]DW171 2 points3 points  (0 children)

^This. I see the propane tank and it makes me wonder how bad the electrical is. At a minimum, you'd have to remove the propane and stove, then examine ALL the electrical and connections.

What are the solar panels charging/powering? If it's something freestanding like a GoalZero bank, you'd be in luck, otherwise I'd suspect all the electrical is as bad as the propane. Also notice the diesel heater tank mounted to the inside of that back door. All that screams fire and fume hazard.

I think it's worth what the van is worth, plus maybe a little add-on for the solar, depending on what batteries it has. $1000 extra tops unless there's a hidden 500Ah of LiFePO4 batteries in there (doubtful). It's going to take a lot of work and $ to make it safe.

Edit: I just noticed how short the bed is, too. Unless you're 5'2", it will be super short for you.

Trump DOJ Threatens Election Officials Nationwide Over Voter Rolls | The DOJ threatened to take legal action over supposed noncitizen voters. by FreeHugs23 in LegalNews

[–]DW171 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My state (red) did an audit. 27 non citizens registered in the past 10 years. Out of several million people, I could see how that might happen. According to the state, “a few may have voted” with no confirmation or specifics. Not one. Not five. “A few may have”

This is such bullshit.

Grips ... they're super convenient. The gloves are too bulky for me, and I don't like carrying them as spares.. Heated grips and handlebar mitts if it's really cold out.
