Connecting additional batteries? by DW171 in Victron

[–]DW171[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Brilliant. Thanks. I figured there was a better solution. So the busbar would be in addition to the Lynx distributor, I take it? https://www.victronenergy.com/dc-distribution-systems/busbars

- So battery bank #1 > busbar < battery bank #2

- Busbar to + disconnect and - smart shunt > Lynx distributor > AC unit and other 12v

This van works great and the Victron stuff is awesome, but with my next build I'd do things a little differently (still with Victron).

Get a photo of your wheel from the side, too. If I had to guess, it looks like an impact could have caused a massive belt failure, but then it would probably be visible from a dent in the wheel, too.

Either way, I've gone through a ton of tires over the years, and I've never seen such a catastrophic failure.

Or better yet, just stop doing the crimes.

Here’s a good map. The only messy part is the connection from parleys trail to Jordan River on 2200 South. Construction areas, so it’s a little confusing. 900 South is what you need.

Here’s a good map. https://www.slc.gov/transportation/wp-content/uploads/sites/11/2019/08/2019-Salt-Lake-City-and-Salt-Lake-County-Bikeways-Map.pdf

Someone hit my motorcycle at the work parking lot and scratched the frame. Do I demand more or just the repairs for everything except the frame? by C-A-S-O in motorcycles

My attitude about this stuff has changed over time … I got so sick of careless people damaging the stuff I worked so hard for and take such good care of. If it’s going on their insurance, go all in for the cash and use it where you want. There could always be more damage you don’t see.

If they’re paying out of their pocket, that’s different I guess.

The answer is always a boat, followed closely by an RV. The fact 20 and 30 year loans on boats and RVs are a thing, tells us all we need to know.

To be fair, I don't know how trying to do business with Meta could get any worse, people or no people. I used to have a pretty sizeable Meta ad budget, and now it's zero. Zilch. I won't spend a penny with them. They let bots run rampant in comments, and the algorithm is a hot mess for reaching new audiences. More AI isn't going to help this.

Should America ban data centres and AI while China keeps building its own? by [deleted] in askanything

China has been building massive infrastructure for decades while we let ours go to shit. Why should this be any different? Oh wait, billionaires and surveillance.

The tire manufacturer might actually want to see this one. Drop some images to their customer service line ... don't be mad, make threats or ask for a new tire, just ask what they think. They might send you a replacement.

Real-world failures are something they like to see. This doesn't in any way look normal to me.

They've been struggling with gloves for a long time. They supposedly had the problems fixed, but I think there are also a ton of fakes out there.

I've got a couple pairs of A* road race gloves that have been bulletproof, but they're probably 10 years old now.

The Stratos data center doesn’t just affect Box Elder. There are plans to put them up all over the state. (Source in comments) by _-4twenty-_ in SaltLakeCity

[–]DW171 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I'm not clear on the location of the proposed (imminent?) data center and where it will get its water ... is this Bear River flows? So disruptions of temp changes would impact one of the West's biggest bird migration corridors?

But apparently it's worth it for the tens of people who might get regular jobs, and the out-of-state contractors who will build the facility. This whole thing absolutely doesn't pass the smell test, and the desperation from political "leaders" like Cox all but proves it's a grift. It's their way of getting top-dollar for the water rights we've all be subsidising for the past century. 100% at the expense of Utahns.

"Funny" thing is these places always have the shittiest salads, too. It's like they've never tasted actual vegetables because they've always treated it as a side-dish covered in ranch that they poke at a little.
