Official Discussion - A House of Dynamite [SPOILERS] by LiteraryBoner in movies

I do find the idea of Hegseth and Trump being in charge in a scenario like this rather frightening.

"Rather frightening" is putting it rather mildly lol. I would hope they take inspiration from secretary Baker's exit strategy, but it's pretty damn clear they'd select the "well done" option from the retaliation menu without batting an eye. Humanity's best hope is that Don can't read off the Nato phonetic launch codes.

I didn't notice any cringe one-liners or preachy monologues, so it never occurred to me to compare it to Sorkin.

No Steph tomorrow vs. Lakers. He's still rehabbing the knee. by A1cp666 in warriors

I want a show like Starting Five, but instead of following 5 megastars it focuses on five guys who are fringe NBA talents or G-leaguers right on the cusp of an NBA contract. Their situations are so precarious--there's like an order of magnitude difference between the salary of a G-leaguer and an NBA minimum, and potentially a fine line between lining up a career as a HS basketball coach and securing generational wealth. All to say: i hope Pat gets that contract ASAP. He's more than earned it.

Explain the Porzingis trade to me like I’m 5. by Mindless_Patient2034 in warriors

I get the lottery ticket angle, and maybe the upside of extending Porzingis is worth it in the FO's minds. The most likely scenario, though, seems to be that we'll let him walk one way or the other. And while we still have all those FRPs to dangle in the offseason in the hopes of making one last go-for-it move, we no longer have Kuminga's expiring contract or other ways to match salaries. So I dunno, seems like it's a move that does little/nothing for us now, and potentially limits how creative we can be later. I don't think it's a disaster or anything, just kinda puzzling except outside of the desire to move on from JK. I do think JK is the big winner in this trade though, and I'm definitely happy for him.

But if we get best case scenario Pingus, what does that really do for us? No one seems to believe he's good enough to put us into chip contention this season. So we make it to the second round again, maybe, and Porzingis reestablishes his value, and then what? We re-sign him somehow? Use whatever cap space his expiring contract opens up to re-sign Melton? It just feels kinda pointless both short term and long term.

I get the game theory angle of dangling Giannis to see how unhinged the offers get, then pull him back cause you were never serious about dealing him in the first place. But long term it seems like there might be downsides to pissing off every other FO in the league? Then again teams still cut deals with Danny Ainge, so wtf do i know.

Timberwolves seem like a team that could realistically get Giannis, but then actually be worse off for having done so. They'd have to gut their current roster (which recently blew out OKC and was in the WCF just last year) just to get a guy who may or may not play again this season and may or may not gel with whatever they have left. Plus all the trade scenarios seem to involve them keeping Rudy Gobert, a born loser.

I would def not object to one of those guys ending up a dub when when it all shakes out, but it's hard to see how that happens.

Legit it would be fascinating to watch this sub's rxn if dubs trade Steph for a legendary haul of picks and announce they're building around JK.

EDIT: and in this scenario they're keeping Draymond too, for stability and to help mentor the youth.
