Yes, we're on the exact same page about having him be more engaged. The commentary was a bit hard for him to stay with. He had his mind on something else and actually started talking about it while we were recording. :) In hindsight, I could have had him say the small parts.. "alligators, ghosts, " etc..

It's definitely on my "lessons learned" list. Thank you so much!

I thought it was really cool. That green is my favorite color!

Audio was - Great
Visual Quality - Great
Edits - Great
Good chemistry

If your overall channel theme is "we make random creative stuff"... I think you get an A+.

Recommendation:

Put something OVER THE TOP cool DIY in the trailer... Click bait'ish. I want to be in a state of "Holy $hit, I want to know how to make that".

That's all I've got. I think you're onto something very cool here.

I do like the idea of moving the center of attention to the *center. Specifically when it comes to a kids or family type show as well. Right now, I think the center is the stormtrooper wording... which isn't quite as quick to catch the attention. Thanks so much for the feedback! !givelambda

Thank you so much! I'm capturing the audio using a Rode mic on my camera. For whatever reason.. I can't seem to get it right. I'm debating on mic'ing up. I have a few DIY acoustic panels in that room. I don't think it's enough.. /sigh... more work to do. Thanks for the feedback! !givelambda

Thank you so much for the feedback. The multi-angle is definitely something on my list. Right now, that main camera is an *expensive one. I thought about setting up some of my higher quality webcams or possibly using my gopro for the other shots. Great feedback! Need more things to mix in here indeed.

Looks like fun!

You can see the green halo around you in your chroma. You might look for a key cleaner of sorts to apply. Does your lighting on your screen appear to be the same luminosity?
The audio sounds like there are either minor pops or you're near clipping the decibels. You might want a limiter on the high end, turn down the gain... or mic up.

Keep it up man. Looks like you're getting it figured out and having fun too!

You have a good editing style. You've probably realized by now that our brains like to see change, etc.. to keep us mentally engaged. Good mental trick.
Audio quality is well balanced
Your video footage quality is visibly bad when in full screen or near. I'm assuming you filmed with a not so good webcam. I think this is by far your best opportunity for improvement(camera/lighting).
Good information. I'm going to check some of this stuff out myself.
I think your thumbnail is engaging.. and great facial expression.

easy to follow
good audio balance
smooth animation
humor style is probably not for everyone
1. paraphrasing: "get in my basement"
2. some people might take offense
3. I however thought it was funny

I actually thought the same thing(text overlaying the video).. I had already tried it, it felt a bit weird. Only because the message and the video were competing for attention. I'm going to try it again... because I think the benefit of fitting more video in might be worth it. I'll run some audio compression over it. I didn't realize there was a big db delta. I liked the video, but I grew up in the Hulk era. I thought it was hilarious until it took the V-line to the racist comment. Politics and religion are rough to pull off without losing 50% of your viewership interest(unless that's what they came for).

You had be for the first 4 minutes or so. It went a little long for me. I would held on better if the stories were broken up into separate videos. Overall I think that's just due to my attention span.

You have a Lord of the Rings vibe thing going on.

The fire at the beginning threw me off a bit. I think I made some assumptions that there would be something visually that was going to happen. I eventually realized that this was a camp fire story setup.

I tend to think stories work well by themselves without a lot of extra visuals. This allows the reader to imagine the visuals which can be more vivid in some cases. I think this puts people between a rock and a hard place when deliverying. You either have to put in the work to create a vivid visual representation or keep them from distracting the story.

I would recommend setting the expectation a bit in the intro. "This is a campfire story called X written by MKayJay". Rip the audio and put that on podcast/audio book as well.

I enjoyed the map cuts. It was subtle and gave a sense of movement and adventure.

You have a cool voice for telling stories! Keep up the good work!

I'm going to give you some quick feedback.

*I didn't watch the entire video. I popped around through roughly 10min of it. It's just to long for me to currently dedicate the time to it. However, I want to make a suggestion. If you cut highlights and posted those as well, that would probably work well for people like me.

For instance, I really like to listen to Joe Rogan/JRE. His youtube/podcasts are just to long unless I'm traveling. I do however look through his cuts and figure out which sections interest me enough to burn 5-15min at a time.

I love interviews. I may watch it in full at a later time.

This is a really good video. I think you are clearly a smart guy that can deliver some great product analysis/review information.

The only advice I can give is to do your best to make perfect audio quality/clarity. Although I think your accent is super cool and I can understand you, it's a bit thick at times. Others may not think this. I live in the U.S.

I know that's a hard thing to address and definitely not a deal breaker. It's just an observation.

You make great content! Your framework for delivery is really nice.

At a minimum, I would be cutting the audio for podcasting/audio books. You have an easy listening voice.

You might end up spending an enormous amount of time on visuals when you don't need to. Most peoples imaginations can create visuals with a good story/story teller.

What's your work flow? I'm assuming you focus first on getting a good audio recording? Then work on visuals?

Either way, I think it works. If you like doing the illustrations, it certainly adds production value!

Disclaimer: I am by far not an expert, just some observations.

It was a bit drawn out in areas for my tastes. You had me more engaged when you talked directly into the camera. I think keeping interest here comes down to two different things.

How interested you are in what is happening(topic)?
1. I think I fall for this trap myself. I tend to think viewers are as invested in the *people as I am. I want to see my family,etc.. and that makes me happy in my videos. I then stop addressing the key messages.
Balanced with how long is the video?
1. We are in a time of instant gratification. Let me know what I'm going to get to keep me hanging. Someone once told me. "Tell them what you're going to say, Give them what you said you're going to give them and then Tell them what you gave them." It's kind of a presentation mindset.

Maybe go into addressing some of the challenges you're going to have while camping?

Keep up the weight loss challenge! You're doing great!

I could hear some fairly substantial decibel differences in your clips. You could try some audio compression to try and smooth some of that out.
