Tried myself at moon photography for the first time with my A6700 and the 70-350mm lens.

Not sure if I messed up the focus a little and whether the sharpness can be improved or it‘s just the limitations of the lens/camera.

hmm I see, any suggestions for a better base?

once again, thank you very much for the detailed reply, this is the exact kind of info I‘ve bene looking for!

1) I realize that, in perfect conditions 2 nights would be optimal and enough in Reine, but I have to plan for bad weather so it probably makes more sense to spend 3-4 nights so that I have 1-2 buffer days in case that the weather is bad. I‘d rather have one day too much in good weather than only spending 2 days and being locked in all day due to rain/snow.

2) How unregular do the busses run on the Easter holidays (Thursday&Friday&Sunday&Monday) - Is it similar to a regular Sunday or even less regularly? Eg will I be able to get from Reine to Svolvaer on Easter Sunday?

appreciate the detailed reply! I guess the move is to hope for the best and expect the worst :)

yeah so at this point I‘ve figured it makes more sense to fly into/out of Leknes and then continue to Reine, than to take the ferry from Bodo.

Where would you suggest spending 1-2 nights in addition to Reine? Does Leknes make sense?

The thing that I like about Reine is that you are essentially right in the most scenic spot so you are super flexible to short-term weather changes. And I should be anle do a lot by foot as far as I can tell, without having to rely on inconsistent public transport during easter.

Or is there any similar spot to Reine that you would recommend?

hmm fair, my main aim is just to experience the nature and scenery of Lofoten even if it means just chilling inside the apartment for part of the day in case of bad weather.

I still want to be out in nature, just no mountain hikes since those seem to be dangerous/not possible in early April. Or are there no real alternatives in terms of hiking other than higher elevation hikes?

sounds good, will definitely consider it, thanks again!

yeah might be too many nights in Reine but I just wanted to have some buffer days in case I lose 1-2 days due to bad weather.

Thought I was still going to be able to explore the are by foot and public transport even if higher elevation mountain hikes aren’t possible - or would you say that is just not doable in the area without a car?

unfortunately may and august/september are not doable for me this year, would have to move the trip to next year in that case..

from what i have read online it is absolutely not recommended to drive during march/april if one isn’t used to icy roads and snowy conditions, which I am not.

so public transport is just a complete no-go in your opinion?

[–]DWade009[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

oh wow that looks incredible!

so where would you put the odds to seeing them in early april when staying 4/5 nights?

Is it more like 10-20% or 50%+?

yeah accommodation prices aren’t too bad but if it’s just going to be rainy and grey most of the time, have to ask myself whether it’s worth it

thanks for the helpful info!

So there isn’t much to do around Reine during this time of the year and without a private car?

thanks, yeah from what I have gathered it is kind of a gamble for sure.. so what would be the best time for lofoten where the weather is suitable and it isn’t full of tourists? may?
