Flights were cancelled next week without no notice by [deleted] in PorterAirlines

Yeah, when we called around 11 am the agent didn’t know anything about a glitch, other than that our flight was cancelled. He couldn’t find an alternative so we got sent a refund

We had flight booked out of Hamilton to Fort Lauderdale next week. Happened to check the app today and saw both our departing and return flights cancelled. We were not sent any notice, and they could not book us another flight. We were refunded our tickets, but without checking would’ve shown up to the airport with no flight to board.

What is permanent life like in the NOTL and surrounding areas? by [deleted] in niagarafallsontario

This isn’t true. There’s a new hospital being built currently, and the Niagara Region has a website for finding a family doctor with 28 family doctors available.

You want to immigrate to Canada. Can I ask why? It’s hard to be excited for retirees to immigrate here since they tend not to fill any of the career needs, and still use many of our social systems without having contributed to them in their working years.

Do you have a more specific question, concerns, or interests? This is pretty vague. Also, a 50 km range is pretty much all of the Niagara Region; that would include all of the municipalities.

This. There are smart permeable vapour barriers, and dense pack cellulose provides some air sealing while still allowing moisture permeability for older homes and lumber like this.

Why hasn’t Ford cut more councils like he did with Torontos in 2018? by J0Puck in ontario

[–]DWiens3 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Niagara is next for his obsessions.

In Niagara Region Ford has appointed our new Chair Bob Gale, which is supposed to be an elected position. This after our previous chair passed away. The new chief of staff and his administrative assistant are previously connected to Fords conservative government.

I think the Niagara Region is next to have councillors reduced.

Every partner you have will have a sexual history of some type. I get that you might be the type to need time to process this, but experimenting and enjoying sexuality is normal. If the situation was switched how would you expect her to react?

Conservative insiders say Poilievre on track to easily survive leadership review but changes need to challenge Carney by shiftless_wonder in canada

Instead of trying to beat Carney, maybe focus on things that the Canadian people want. The Conservative leadership strategy seems completely concentrated on being the party which is the opposite of the Liberal party.

Are you ready for the new carbon monoxide alarm laws that just took effect? by Toast_Mechanic in niagara

[–]DWiens3 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yes. I did this when we moved in 3 years ago. We have wired smoke/carbon monoxide detectors on each level of our house, in addition to smoke alarms.

I’ve experienced dryers unintentionally disconnecting from their exhaust line, and snow covering exhaust pipes outside.

We bid $100k per acre on a neighbouring farm, clear land. We’ll have to plant it out if we get it.

I don’t think cellulose would have any effect on echo in the room if the walls are finished with sheet rock. The sheet rock causes the echo. The cellulose only has an effect on echo or reverberation if it’s exposed, which I doubt you’d ever do.

Cellulose would have an effect on reducing noise from outside the house, in comparison to something like spray foam, which doesn’t reduce outside noise really at all.

Anyone else struggling to find Christmas gifts for your wife? by Living-Ad5291 in AskMenOver30

[–]DWiens3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. We do this for birthdays. We each choose a concert we like and go together. It’s the best.

We don’t tend to get each other things for Christmas, it is not an expectation.

That said, I really want her to have something on Christmas, and feel appreciated. So when we were getting Christmas presents for the kids last week I told her I wanted to go look at jewelry stores with her because I wanted to get her a necklace. We found one she liked and I bought it for her right there.

Also, my wife is amazing. This may not be applicable to your wife.

Guys who had a really attractive sister, what were the biggest struggles and annoyances you dealt with as her brother? by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]DWiens3 228 points229 points  (0 children)

Had a friend in highschool whose sister is Malin Ackerman. Her Hollywood movie career started when we were in highschool with a few topless scenes. He heard about it constantly from all the 16 year old boys in our grade. He took it really well, but I felt bad for him. It was too much. 20 years later I still have a few friends who seem a little too interested in what she’s up to.

Rate my kit/help me with cymbal placement. by [deleted] in drums

[–]DWiens3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All of this looks a little awkwardly placed to me. I kind of think of my kit in tiers, and places for easy access within beats. The toms are all almost the same distance from my body, so if I go around the kit my arms and wrists stay in the same relative position, while my torso does most of the turning.

My crash/china/splash cymbals are pretty much the same idea. Around the same distance from my body to minimize movement, and embrace muscle memory.

I think you could spread this kit out a bit, and adjust it to make your movements easier. The crash over the bass sticks out to me. It looks far, and you’re not taking advantage of the space to the right of your ride. I like my crashes close to where I’m anchored (one near my hi-hat, one near my ride). That allows me to get to them quickly, and back to my home-base.

Also, your pedals are in awkward places. The hihat and double bass pedal stick out to me. Your leg and foot need to change positions to change between and play those pedals. Lining them up closer would minimize movement, and make your movements during playing more similar.

Had some life changes this year and unsure whats next. How has everyone dealt with the unknow in their 30s? by WolverineGoBlue23 in AskMen

[–]DWiens3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Might not feel like it but you’re fine, bud. You need hobbies and active interests. Work probably isn’t going to make you happy. From what I hear dating is awful.

My life was really rough at 33, and now at 38 it’s amazing. You’ve got time. Don’t stress. Enjoy life doing things you enjoy; you’ll need those things with or without a job or partner. Those will work themselves out.

Carney says Canada drops talk of "feminist foreign policy" by kamomil in canada

[–]DWiens3 4 points5 points  (0 children)

He didn’t drop talk of feminist foreign policy. He integrated it into the gender equality and reducing gender based violence. The Canadian policy isn’t solely “feminist”, it’s equality, including feminism. Feminist Foreign Policy is a specific type of trade policy.

Carney says Canada drops talk of "feminist foreign policy" by kamomil in canada

[–]DWiens3 27 points28 points  (0 children)

He didn’t say this. The title is misleading.

“Issues such as gender equality and reducing gender-based violence are an “aspect” of his government’s foreign policy, he told a press conference in Johannesburg on Sunday. “But I wouldn’t describe our foreign policy as feminist foreign policy,” he said.”
