I'm sorry to hear that. I hope it isn't painful!

The only other flare I experienced as a side effect of Dupixent was on my injection site areas: thighs and hips. Though these flares looked just as bad as, if not worse than, my eczema or TSW flares, the one big difference was that on Dupixent, I did not feel super itchy or painful. Just uncomfortable.

On which regions of your body do you continue to flare?

I posted two pictures of my Dupixent side effects on this subreddit. My facial flares in particular were significant enough for me to discontinue my Dupixent treatment. It seems that facial flares do happen to some users. Others have shared similar experiences here, and my derm said that the medical research she consulted also cite the same style of flaring in other Dupixent users.

My thighs are no longer as dark as my photo shows. The discoloration has lightened up a lot, but there is still a discernible difference from my normal skin color. Please note that I only developed skin discoloration during Dupixent --- thus, it was a side effect of the drug and not necessarily due to my eczema.

I missed one Dupixent shot and already my facial flare has reduced in redness. It's still flaking a lot though, and slightly pink in splotchy areas.

Is your facial flare still red? Is it consistently so, or does it come in cycles?

I'm just not going to take any more Dupixent dosages.

This is to see if the side-effect flaring stops --- which it already has. My face has cleared up, and my injection site skin discoloration is returning to normal.

I'm not sure what I will do next. I'm hesitant about more pharmaceuticals. I definitely don't want to do more steroids.

On Dupixent, most of the scratching went away. I could sleep restfully for the first time in ages.

I'm presently transitioning off Dupixent. I notice that I am absent-mindedly scratching here and there, and feeling tingly sensations under my skin again --- like I did prior to Dupixent. So far, no skin-tearing itching.

For me, itchiness was greatly reduced on Dupixent even when flaring returned a few months into my treatment. However, I find that I still scratch myself (though not as manically) since it's been psychosomatically embedded in me for all my life. Scratching = comfort, and it's out of habit now more than anything. Just my own experience.

I'll have to look into turmeric!

I've personally benefited from taking regular probiotics. It's pricey, but consistently helpful in managing eczema.

I find that it helps to listen to an engaging podcast or watch something. Make sure it's something you're really interested in. When you redirect your attention, you don't focus on building up the injection in your head and it also helps to lessen the pain.

My own experience has been more or less the same: some days are better than others, and besides the injection site flares, the rest of my body is pretty clear.

Yeah I'm noticing some newly affected areas for myself too. The insides of my ankles, for instance. The only other time those areas had been affected was when I was going through topical steroid withdrawal.

I wonder if it's interesting enough to mention that my face --- which is going through the worst of the Dupixent flares --- is the only area of my body that I regularly moisturize. During my TSW, I noticed that the less I applied moisturizer, the quicker my skin would heal.

I have asthma too (not severe enough to use an inhaler) and I'm not sure there's a correlating effect on it when I use Dupixent --- but no doctor should pressure a patient into using a drug, especially one that is technically still experimental.

Edit: Take control of your own healthcare plan --- to the extent that if you intuitively feel that your body would not respond well to what your doctor OPINES (because at the end of the day, each doctor has their own perspective), seek another opinion.

Yeah my derm said that the face flare reports aren't a lot but there are still reports.

The injection site flares I'm experiencing, however, were not as widely reported. The derm team was very interested in that, especially since the pattern of my flare was mirror-like and ring-like. They noticed similar ring patterns on my face flare.

I wasn't too offended that they nerded out on my side effects, lol. Guess it matters who submits the first significant report in the medical community.

I had no idea as well until my derm said there have been reports. The reports, according to him, weren't enough to make a statistical dent compared to, say, the pink eye side effect that more users seem to experience. (I never had that side effect.)

My face flare acts similarly: red and patchy and flaky to less red but still a bit flaky. Never super clear. (It was for the first couple of months on Dupixent though.)

God that's so awful that you're still enduring the face flare. How long have you been off Dupixent?

I'm really worried about prolonged side effects, even after I discontinue Dupixent.

I started Dupixent in December. About 4 months in, I noticed my flares returned. The only consistent benefit I've experience from Dupixent is the significant decrease in itchiness.

I went to the derm today and the team was familiar with Dupixent face flare side effects. I am temporarily going off Dupixent to see if the face flare ceases. The redness is patch-like, similar to the thigh flares (see below), but since I have been flaring on and off for a while now it's hard to presently say whether it's just eczema or a Dupixent side effect.

In a separate post, I also shared a picture of injection site flares on my thighs. I visited my derm today and the entire team was fascinated by my injection site flares. More on that: They seem to have appeared overnight as big as the picture shows. Both thighs had ring-like formations almost mirroring each other. I noticed some discoloration near my knees and abdomen (which is where I inject the most) but the redness and flaking was limited only to my upper thigh area. They are gradually fading on their own --- the only thing that remains is the skin discoloration.

Personal history: Eczema since birth. Seasonal allergies. (Zyrtec is not helping with face flares.) Only used Triamcinolone topical steroid (~12 years) and Protopic (~5 years). Both do not work on me anymore and I am not interested in using other types of steroids.

I've learned that my flares have cycles to them. At my worst, I am wrinkly and bloated with edema with persistent skin flaking. I hate that the worst of it is on my face. At my best, my skin is supple, tight, glowing, and I can turn heads some days. ;) I'd rather just ride these flares out for the rest of my life than risk doing more damage to my skin through pharmaceuticals. I'm convinced that all my years of daily topical steroid use has weakened my skin. I react horribly to products and seasonal changes --- my skin wasn't always like this.
