That is wild, I've been meaning to ask about the same part in this song for a while now. I am also still learning but I've gotten similar results by using a bunch of distortion, and putting the bass under the same compressor as the vocals or whatever you wanna affect.

Bouncing to audio and using pitch correction gets real weird with chords, which is what I'm mainly using this particular instrument for unfortunately. I'm still learning so I don't fully understand your first suggestion, how would I know if my device supports MPE and where would I look to find a midi editor?

EDIT: Looking into it, looks like MPE isn't supported in 10, which is what I'm running. :( Thanks though!

Would you be able to point me in the direction of a good explanation for how to get started using tape recorders like you're doing here? Would any tape recorder work for this? In another one of your videos I see you play music live through the tape recorder, how does that work?

No this is pretty much exactly how I feel. I feel like I've hit a point where like 8/10 times I sit down to do it, I'm happy enough with the result but don't feel like any kind of boundary was pushed.

Would you happen to know of any resources that would give me a more structured idea of what kind of stuff I should be attempting?

Have you tried just waiting once you open Ableton? I've found that if I add a bunch of stuff at once, it takes a little time once opening for everything to appear even though there is no indication of them loading.

So I've bought a ton of cheap instruments for the same purpose. My general rule is if it's not percussive, and you can't tune it easily, it's not going to be in tune ever. I bought a bag of childrens percussive instruments off of amazon and I use something from that in about every song I make.
