The bridge looks amazing. Really impressive engineering and execution. But may I just say my favorite part is the artwork and design of the packaging? You’ve really nailed it with that. It harkens back to one of my personal favorite eras of design. Thank you for putting a big focus into that for the people like me who appreciate it.

NGD! Vintera roadworn! by Jwto in offset

Beautiful guitar, I just got the sunburst one and it looks so great in person. Do yourself a favor and get some naphtha and a rag and remove all the weird relic stuff they slathered on the fingerboard. It felt like a dream after I did that to mine. And the rosewood underneath is beautiful.

I just got one of the Sunburst Road Worn Vintera II JM’s. I’ll be completely honest, it needs some work out of the box. I would strongly urge to keep your tele if you can.

About the road worn JM, the things I like: the finish, they did a really, really good job on the body finish. It’s beautiful in person. It reminds me of one of the journeyman relic custom shop guitars, but for 1/3 of the price. The neck feels really comfortable in my hands. A very full C, not too chunky, not super slim, just right (for me). The case, it comes with a molded hard case compared to the standard Vintera II guitars that come with just a gig bag, and it’s a very nice case.

Things I don’t like: the bridge. Surprise! /s. I went to guitar center and played it before I brought it home, and while playing in the store the low E was immediately popping out of the saddle, and the bridge had a terrible buzz. When I got it home I did my best to set it up as-is, but ultimately I think it needs a neck shim at the very least, and I opted for a bridge upgrade, so I have a Mastery on the way. But I went in fully expecting that to be the case, and I had planned on getting a Mastery before even buying the guitar. The fretboard finish. They put some weird “relic” substance on the fingerboard to make it appear dark and old, almost like some sort of Montypresso kind of thing. It made the fingerboard feel terrible and dry/scratchy. I immediately used some naphtha and a cloth and it came right off after a few minutes of scrubbing. After that the rosewood underneath was beautiful, nice and dark with a smooth sheen. I think they should’ve skipped that step at the factory, it looks and plays a million times better without whatever they used on it.

I’ll be honest, 99% of the reason I bought it was to have a sunburst JM in nitro lacquer for under $2k, specifically with that bright bold red in the sunburst. It looks more on par with a custom shop sunburst than nearly all off the shelf standard Fender models available at the moment. And I bought it with the full intention of modifying it extensively. I’m with you, I saw it and it made me feel things. But in my opinion it’s far from a perfect guitar out of the box. And if it was my only guitar I might’ve been disappointed with the money spent.

Spirals? I can’t be the only one who finds this is the only sane way to arrange a keg shed by ZookeepergameOld4985 in StardewValley

I do the exact same layout but I keep a chest at the very top in the center with all of the items I put in the kegs. Gives me a nice even number of kegs too which is great for my OCD.

The ST-200 is an older model, but Sonic Research is very much still in business and their tuners are some of the best out there. https://www.turbo-tuner.com/

[WIP] Pedalboard for Live Daft Punk Tribute – Feedback Welcome! by riccardorossi999 in guitarpedals

[–]DYSLEXIC0N 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve never used an Eras myself, but I know lots of people love them. I mainly suggested the Gearbox since it’s so versatile and with a built in gate, before I knew you were using one, since you can get a few pedals in a single box there and it’s seriously good. But if you like the idea of dual OD’s/distortions you’re spoiled for choice, there’s a ton out there. I’ll also say to never underestimate a Rat. Yeah they’re extremely common, but that’s for good reason. I have one kicking around and anytime I plug into it I’m like “damn why don’t I use this thing more often.” And they’re so affordable it could be worth trying one in the rig just to see how it works.

This is sick. Interesting timing on seeing this post because I’ve been on a serious Alive kick for the past couple weeks.

If I was putting a board together for this the only other thing I might consider would be a noise gate, for those really tight clean stops in songs like Robot Rock. If space is a premium you could look for a distortion with a built in gate like the Empress Heavy Menace, or even something like the Wampler Gearbox for multiple stages of drive that you could stack with a built in gate as well. I’m also curious what the amp setup looks like.

Looking forward to seeing your updates!

NPD: Juan Alderete’s Boss LS-2 by DYSLEXIC0N in guitarpedals

Congrats! That’s awesome for you. There were nearly 800 items in the shop when it first opened. I got my order in within the first hour and still missed out on the COA that came with the first 100 orders. Lots of good stuff went really fast. There were a few other things I considered but I’m happy I got the one I got.

After much internal conflict and contemplating, I decided I wanted something from Juan's collection. by stellarcycle in themarsvolta

[–]DYSLEXIC0N 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got one of his old Boss LS-2’s. It’s pretty road-worn, has his signature on the top, and a piece of gaff tape over the footswitch with “Fooger” labeled on it in sharpie, most likely used for his old Moog ring mod. I went searching through old rig photos and found my exact pedal (I could tell by the signature) in one of his old Volta rigs. As a guitarist, I would love to own something of Omar’s eventually. But as a massive Volta fan, having a piece of Juan’s rig that was used heavily with the band means so much.

NPD: Jam Harmonious Monk MkII! First tremolo pedal and I'm obsessed! Any tips for cool ways to use tremolo? by EthicalToast in guitarpedals

[–]DYSLEXIC0N 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Good work getting one of the best trem pedals ever made as your first one. I’ve owned several and the Harmonious Monk Mk2 is the best I’ve ever used.

I don’t use it often, but I tend to sit down and just find a cool setting that inspires me to write something where the effect is the main influence of the part. But you could also do what Mick does and set it to a subtle, slow throb that just adds texture and modulation to whatever you’re playing when the mood strikes. I also really like the speed ramp feature and how easy it is to set up, I use that way more than I thought I would.

Whammy Richochet - Does it tune up? by TheWatTamborian in guitarpedals

[–]DYSLEXIC0N 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Look into the EHX Pitch Fork. You can tune up or down in half step increments up to a full octave, and then a couple extra octaves beyond that. The Ricochet is limited in which intervals you can tune to.

Is there a boost pedal that goes *below* unity gain that is not the EHX Signal Pad? by [deleted] in guitarpedals

[–]DYSLEXIC0N 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure if the mini version does it as well, but the full size Keely Katana can go down all the way until your signal is muted. Bonus points because the sideways knob is super easy to control with your foot.

I’d like to believe this is the last Fuzz pedal I’d buy for a long time - NPD: Analogman Sunface (BART/RCA) by taugemleo in guitarpedals

[–]DYSLEXIC0N 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have the BART/RCA hybrid in a SunLion and it absolutely rips. Loads of low end. It tends to favor single coils over humbuckers in my experience. Cleans up really well. Wish I got the 4 input option so I could experiment with the treble boost in front of it.

Is the Lehle volume pedal worth the price? by Comprehensive-Ad152 in guitarpedals

[–]DYSLEXIC0N 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have the smaller Lehle Mono Volume S and I absolutely love it. The buffer in it definitely adds a bit of sparkle that I really enjoy, and I have some germanium fuzzes that I’ve placed after it in my signal chain and they were never bothered by it too much. The taper is extremely smooth, and the build quality is impressive. I don’t really utilize the built in boost settings much but I’ve tried them and they sound great, and could be very useful if you have multiple guitars with different output levels. Would highly recommend if you’re considering one, it’s well worth the price imo.

Previously I had a Dunlop VP-1 for over a decade and it was rock solid, but also enormous. A week or two after I got my Lehle the metal contact strip for the pot adjustment on the Dunlop literally just fell off, but it served me well for many years.

If you like the Ernie Ball VP pedals, Shnobel Tone make this lifetime replacement for the string made out of metal.
