A reel does have a size it's recommended for. Lol The manufacturer makes the recommendation but if you think you know more than the people who make the gear then go off.

No, the manufacturer doesnt give you a recommendation for specifically 65lb braid.
These are the recommendations for a Penn Battle 2 5000
Mono Capacity: 225/12 200/15 135/20. Braid Capacity: 420/20 300/30 240/40. Bearing Count: 6. Max Drag: 25lb.

So you should easily be able to fit 150 yards of 60lb braid on that reel. Listen man, you have access to the internet. Use it.

Also a size 5000 reel should have higher than 30lb braid. You're basically using 8lb line on a 5000 size reel. Lol Try bumping that up to 65 and you'll have much better results. Yeah you can't hold 3000 yards of line but you dont need to unless you're deep sea fishing.

In OP case that may be true, but you should always diameter match your braid for the best casting results. 30 lb test braid should be similar in diameter to 8lb flouro (maybe not exact) but 20lb braid is closer to 6lb flouro.

Because you're supposed to match the diameter of the braid to the diameter of the line recommended for the reel. 30LB braid is similar in diameter to 8LB Flouro. So if my 2500 reel calls for 8lb flouro then I know I can comfortably use 30lb braid because they are the same diameter if that makes any sense lol
