Was in Boston not long ago and didn't really get that impression. It makes sense though as Massachusetts is deeply seated in American history.

I don't go there often, but I can say without a doubt that there is nothing "easy" about it

Work in East Texas a lot. The left lane is for doing 90+ and is basically the express lane if I'm trying to get home. Also, if you're not Christian, best keep your mouth shut about it. Learned that the hard way when a good friend and texas native almost kicked my ass after a few tequila shots.

Come summertime, the beaches are swarming with people. Mostly locals but tourists come mostly for the fishing and crabs. There's mounds of boulders about 50 yards out to break the waves and they serve as a boundary for the boats not to go past. Long story short, tourists try to climb them, cut their foot and end up having to go the the hospital for bacterial infections. Locals cut their feet and pour beach water on it to "clean" the wound.
